Can’t argue with that analysis. I see the same thing. Especially the fact he doesn’t step towards his target. That’s why his ball hits the turf too often. His bad footwork causes passes to go off target, especially high.He still might be just fine as a college quarterback. But there are certain things that make me question that.
My opinion is this: he needs some heavy training this offseason to try and refine various parts of his game. His footwork sucks; he dances and often doesn't even step toward his target. His touch on short passes is not good. His pocket presence... well, tough to tell because our line sucks, but he kept moving out of the pocket without purpose last night and taking away half the field.
Sometimes QBs take well to that stuff, and sometimes it ruins them mentally. So it's all to be determined.
To me Eli has way more physical capabilities than Browne did (although Browne has a really good podcast which I enjoy). Browne’s footwork and over all lack of quickness/speed had me saying the same thing I used to say about Bostick, how was thisguy a big time recruit?? Eli has the arm and mobility. His issue right now is above the neck. Only experience and unfortunately mistakes are part of the process. Having said that, Eli should be in a short leash next week if we are sputtering.Max Browne part 2? Did something happen?
I believe he has been proclaimed on this board as the best QB in the country, and spoken of as a Heisman candidate. After wins over, well, nobody. That’s the kind of brilliance we see here on a daily basis.
