I am probably one of the few people who get this. LOLTea with Mrs. McGill.
Yes.....agree. Just like Atlanta is just off of the Appalachians probably no further away than Pittsburgh is from Chestnut Ridge which is probably the closest "mountain" to Pittsburgh in the Appalachian chain. Also Charlotte is in a very similar location and close to the heart of the largest peaks in the chain. It depends on what you consider to be Appalachia because the Appalachian Mountains do not go through Pittsburgh or anywhere close to it. They cut through Central Pennsylvania and only get as far west as the Uniontown area then down to WV to VA, NC, KY, TN, etc.
This is crazy I was literally thinking the same thing on my ride home today. Gotta prove it! The more I look at this game the more I think if a top 10 team only beat them by 3 at home and they think Pitt is not legit a 7.5 point spread means we aren't as good as BYU so playing them at their place equals the spread. They slow played Pitt to a top 25 ranking and can't wait to say I told you so. Anyone take a bet on the record this year? I think it was 5 wins or something....... Vegas ain't always right! They are like a lot of Pitt fans, waiting for the other shoe to drop. After all, this is Pitt, and Pitt is bound to screw up, and they believe Pitt will always be Pitt, let’s hope not. “Let’s Go Pitt”
The NCAA has been awarding a national championship in women's volleyball since 1981. Over those 43 years.....4 teams have captured 25 of the national championships. They are the volleyball 'bluebloods'....and include Texas (4), Nebraska (5), Penn State (7), and Stanford (9). Dan Fisher has stated (I'm paraphrasing) that the ACC will not receive the respect of the volleyball community until an ACC team wins the national championship (Stanford in the ACC now doesn't count). He has said....it can be Pitt. He expects it to be Pitt. Another trip to the final 4 is great.....makes it 4 years in a row. To not win it all will not be the end of the world.....but it sure as hell will be depressing. Time to make the naysayers eat their words that.....the ACC doesn't have what it takes to win it all. That's fair, and to be clear I think there is a big difference between success/failure and disappointment. If they win another ACC championship and make another Final Four, that is a successful season regardless of what happens after that. But with the talent and experience they have, the prior near misses and the fact that, at their best, they have been the best team in the country this year, barring a major injury it will be disappointing (to me) if they don't win it all. But I am trying to enjoy the ride either way!
I guess when you acknowledge Appalachia runs into NY then it makes more sense. Because usually you correlate "Appalachian" with the south. And Pittsburgh is definitely not the south.
It depends on how much TV time, but something is better than nothing. What’s the going rate for occasional tarp advertising?
We've done pretty well with transfers but where has it gotten us? One trip to the Dance and only to the 2nd Round. We need the right mix of guys. Still need some high school kids capable of raising the bar.
