The Paris of Appalachia.

It depends on what you consider to be Appalachia because the Appalachian Mountains do not go through Pittsburgh or anywhere close to it. They cut through Central Pennsylvania and only get as far west as the Uniontown area then down to WV to VA, NC, KY, TN, etc.
Yes.....agree. Just like Atlanta is just off of the Appalachians probably no further away than Pittsburgh is from Chestnut Ridge which is probably the closest "mountain" to Pittsburgh in the Appalachian chain. Also Charlotte is in a very similar location and close to the heart of the largest peaks in the chain.

Pitt’s new on campus football stadium

People that are anti-tarp are literally the same people who yell at you to sit down on a big third down. Old cornballs.

By funneling everyone into a fewer amount of sections and selling out every seat, it would create a way better environment than the current set up. The biggest issue with the ack is that it feels like everyone is spread out even though we have 45K-50K, which is way bigger than half these college teams stadiums.

ALLENE GREENE. TARP THESE SEATS.

SMU -7

They are like a lot of Pitt fans, waiting for the other shoe to drop. After all, this is Pitt, and Pitt is bound to screw up, and they believe Pitt will always be Pitt, let’s hope not. “Let’s Go Pitt”
This is crazy I was literally thinking the same thing on my ride home today. Gotta prove it! The more I look at this game the more I think if a top 10 team only beat them by 3 at home and they think Pitt is not legit a 7.5 point spread means we aren't as good as BYU so playing them at their place equals the spread. They slow played Pitt to a top 25 ranking and can't wait to say I told you so. Anyone take a bet on the record this year? I think it was 5 wins or something....... Vegas ain't always right!

Pitt Bars / Watch Party (SMU)

Are there any "Pitt" bars in the city where a bunch of Pitt fans go to watch games? Or just a watch party this weekend for the SMU game specifically? Would like to watch the boys go 8-0 with a solid Pitt crowd this weekend. Bonus points for good seating & having the sound on for the game. Live in Lawrenceville but willing to drive a little around tahn if its within 20 mins. H2P.

VB Post Season Expectations

That's fair, and to be clear I think there is a big difference between success/failure and disappointment. If they win another ACC championship and make another Final Four, that is a successful season regardless of what happens after that. But with the talent and experience they have, the prior near misses and the fact that, at their best, they have been the best team in the country this year, barring a major injury it will be disappointing (to me) if they don't win it all. But I am trying to enjoy the ride either way!
The NCAA has been awarding a national championship in women's volleyball since 1981. Over those 43 years.....4 teams have captured 25 of the national championships. They are the volleyball 'bluebloods'....and include Texas (4), Nebraska (5), Penn State (7), and Stanford (9). Dan Fisher has stated (I'm paraphrasing) that the ACC will not receive the respect of the volleyball community until an ACC team wins the national championship (Stanford in the ACC now doesn't count). He has said....it can be Pitt. He expects it to be Pitt. Another trip to the final 4 is great.....makes it 4 years in a row. To not win it all will not be the end of the world.....but it sure as hell will be depressing. Time to make the naysayers eat their words that.....the ACC doesn't have what it takes to win it all.

The Paris of Appalachia.

I guess when you acknowledge Appalachia runs into NY then it makes more sense. Because usually you correlate "Appalachian" with the south. And Pittsburgh is definitely not the south.

It depends on what you consider to be Appalachia because the Appalachian Mountains do not go through Pittsburgh or anywhere close to it. They cut through Central Pennsylvania and only get as far west as the Uniontown area then down to WV to VA, NC, KY, TN, etc.

Wonder if Pitt would ever do Throwback Uniforms

The Steelers wearing throwback uniforms vs the Jets got me thinking about Pitt bringing back throwback uniforms with grey facemasks and white block numbers on the blue jerseys like they did in 2016 or even the road white version like @ PSU in 2017. Would be awesome.

Anyone think they’d do it? Especially with them doing the chrome facemask and chrome helmet sticker in the past two years I hope they would. If it’s a pay to play thing like NIL is for student athletes and we need to create a collective to donate to the equipment staff and whoever else needs to sign off on this to get it to happen, I can look into it.

Anymore HS commits or...

We've done pretty well with transfers but where has it gotten us? One trip to the Dance and only to the 2nd Round. We need the right mix of guys. Still need some high school kids capable of raising the bar.

There were very few true freshmen who made an impact on NCAA Tournament teams last season. 22 year old mid-major transfers are better. Pitt was probably the most freshman-reliant NCAAT-worthy team outside of Kentucky. If you cant get a freshman who is ready for major minutes from Day 1, its not worth the scholarship.
