Join Jim and me for this week's LIVE Panther-Lair Show tonight at 8:30 pm to talk about the 6-0 start, the coming hoops season and a lot more with your comments and questions.
George Pickens told Adam Schefter he believes the Steelers have the coaches and talent to win back to back Super Bowls: “Kind of like what people can relate to now is the modern-day Chiefs I guess you could say, I mean they are just winning Super Bowls back to back. I feel like we have the same talent and the same coaches and the same organization to do the same thing as the Chiefs.” #Steelers #NFL
With Pitt Football 6-0, Olympic sports doing well and Pitt Basketball being top 20-30 over past two seasons, and anticipating a good 2024-25 season, what period looking back over the past 20 years (or longer for some posters/subscribers) would you rate as the best for Pitt Sports in general?
"6. Miami The Hurricanes are the ACC's lone remaining unbeaten, but have managed to escape multiple hiccups in recent weeks after fourth-quarter comebacks against Virginia Tech and Cal. Can Miami keep surviving late-game situations like this?"
Eli Holstein has a chance this week to do something he’s never done before: bounce back from a bad game. It can be easy to forget he’s a half-season into his college career sometimes, considering he immediately hit the ground running this season. Holstein struggled at times this season before...
Pat Narduzzi 8-5
And that’s with 7 of those 13 games from a 3-9 season with Cignetti, Jurkovec, & Co.
Other Notable Coaches in the ACC:
Dabo Swinney 10-3
Mike Norvell 7-6
Dave Doeren 8-5
Mario Cristobal 9-4
Jeff Brohm 8-5
We’ve all had (and some may still have) our criticisms of Pat—about recruiting, coaching decisions, in-game management, preparation, or underperforming as favorites...
But is this 6-0 start with a "rookie" OC and a Freshman QB, cementing himself as one of the best coaches in the country (top 20%), and in the ACC (top 3)?
-1 ACC Championship
-2 ACC Coastal
-71 Wins & 50 Losses --> 58.7% winrate, roughly equal to Mike Norvell, Mack Brown, and Dave Doeren. Better than anyone else but Dabo.
-2 Bowl Wins
-1 NY6 Bowl
It's time for questions, so if you have something on your mind about Pitt football, basketball, recruiting or anything else, post it in this thread and we'll answer as many as we can in this week's Mailbag.
Notre Dame landed a commitment from four-star quarterback Blake Hebert on Monday, flipping the longtime Clemson pledge and securing a quarterback for the Irish's 2025 class less than two weeks after Deuce Knight's seismic flip to Auburn.

Kenny "Transfer Portal" Minchey not pleased. Enjoy playing at App St, kid.
Fourteen ESPN college football writers voted on their top five for the sport's most coveted trophy.

14 voters. Reid ended up with a vote. That was good for 11th place, with only 11 players receiving any votes. It’s a start to see him acknowledged here
Seeing how dead the board is with the team 6-0, while the rest of the city complains about a 4-2 Steelers team "not having a top passing attack" shows just how much Pittsburgh sports fans dont know what to do with themselves when they dont have something to bitch about.
Maybe its all fanbases, but it seems worse with this city
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference and ESPN, in conjunction with Bowl Season, announced the ACC bowl schedule for the upcoming 2024 season, which includes three games on ABC and nine games on ESPN.

Correct me if I'm wrong but there's no more tiers or selection order.
If we assume 2 ACC teams (Clem and ND for bowl purposes) to CFP then you could be looking at:
This bowl lineup is terrible:
Gator - Louisville
Pop Tarts (Orlando) - Miami
Sun - SMU
Pinstripe - Pitt
Holiday - Syracuse
Mayo - NC or VA team. They have never selected a team outside of the Carolinas or Virginia. They did get stuck with BC once but that was because BC made the ACCCG so they werent allowed to fall past that bowl.
Then you have the Birmingham, Military, Fenway, and Gasparilla.
