One thing I appreciate about Narduzzi and the other Pitt coaches is their commitment to teaching. Listening to Jurkovec talk about watching tape of Joe Montana and the old West Coast offense, it sounds like they are getting a real education in football, both its history and theory. I think a major trend in college football for the last decade is simplifying everything so the players don't have to think much. Especially at the QB position where a lot of offense are is one read or tuck it and run. Yes, that can help them play well at the college level within a system, but I think that hurts them overall and at the next level and they have to learn these things while in the NFL. It seems like Narduzzi chose the opposite direction: we are going to play with Pro-level concepts and you are going to learn how to play NFL football. We've seen time and again that Narduzzi's players show up in the NFL ready to play as professionals. It might have taken Narduzzi longer than we liked to establish this program but this is the right way to do it. These kids are getting a doctorate in football at Pitt.
I've come to the point where I expect every Pitt player drafted to not just make a roster but become a regular contributor at the NFL level.
Since 2018:
Brian O'Neill (starter for MINN, considered one of the best OT in NFL)
Jordan Whitehead (starter for Jets, has been starter for multiple seasons)
Avonte Maddox (regular contributor for PHI and spot starter)
Qadree Ollison (wasn't used much by DAL this year, but has 5 NFL touchdowns for his career)
Dane Jackson (started 14 games for BUFF this year)
Patrick Jones II ((regular contributor for MINN, 4 sacks this year)
Rashad Weaver (regular contributor for TENN, 5.5 sacks this year)
Jason Pinnock (played a lot of snaps on defense and ST for the Giants)
Jalen Twyman (still working his way back, signed a future contract with MIAMI for next season)
Damar Hamlin (starter for Buffalo this season)
Jimmy Morrissey (currently on active roster for Texans)
Kenny Pickett (starting QB for PIT)
Damarri Mathis (starter, played almost 100% of the defensive snaps for Denver after mid October)
