Coach Cal

You have to wonder how much more he can endure before he says screw it.

I know he has $50 million reasons not to leave UK, but he's already made a shit-ton of money. Quality of life is important too & Big Blue Nation is going to make his life as uncomfortable as possible. He appears to be the type that kind of needs to be liked & there isn't a fanbase in America that hates their head coach more than UK fans hate Coach Cal. And now with the NIL, they should still be able to buy all the talent they depended on Cal to deliver. I wouldn't be too surprised if he pulled a Tubby Smith at the end of the season.

Article A chance for Patti to step up one more time

Every one of Nick Patti’s opportunities over the last five years at Pitt has come when he needed to step in for someone else.

OT: Disaster in Buffalo

I think this is being underreported, partly because the Weather Channel and National News media can't get there if they weren't already there. But 3-4 feet of snow (another 8-12" on its way) 50+ mph winds, the same frigid temperatures we have. A true "blizzard" that has spanned 3 days. Mass power out outtages They are finding dead, frozen bodies all over the place in cars, houses, outside......I think the death toll just in the Buffalo area is over 30 and counting. All major roads closed. Airport been closed for 3 days and through tomorrow.

Just an incredible scenario that has been playing out without much fanfare. I vaguely remember their blizzards of 1977, they are saying this is much worse.

A Perspective

I never coached at the college level nor do I know Dior.

I have had on 3 different occasions as a coach very gifted players that could drop 30 when they wanted to and led us to many victories. But as a coach it was a real headache. Each could be selfish, have bad attitudes with me and the refs, get into it with their own teammates, and thought that without them we were nothing.

I actually found as a team we played just as good if not better when they were there. The players took a deep breath and knew they finally had the chance to step up. They also collectively supported each other much more and played harder for one another. We in many instance overachieved.

The chemistry thing is real. One of my players walked out on us during a game last year and we kicked him off the team. We improved a lot because we played better as a team and didn’t have to worry about him or his attitude.

Again, I don’t know Dior. But I have learned a lot about how fragile team chemistry is. I have learned how one player can absolutely sink a team. And I know we are playing he best basketball as a TEAM under Capel.

It sucks when you don’t have a great player. But it can also be a good thing in such cases.

OT: NFL playoff wins since 2000

I thought this was very interesting. What jumps out for any of of you?

For me, it’s that Detroit doesn’t have one playoff win since 1992. So some people reading this weren’t even alive then. And this is the franchise we are subjected to every Thanksgiving. Sheesh!

And as futile as that is, Pittsburgh has been subjected to the Pirates and that’s even worse. If you consider a series win is similar to a football playoff win, you have to go back to 1979 for the last time the pirates won a series. I wonder what a similar chart for baseball would look like.

Is it time or even past time for Tom Brady to retire?

I can't believe how absolutely awful Tampa Bay's offense has been mostly this entire season. I know his offensive line is playing several replacements due to injury, but, he is missing many simple throws. Plus he ruined his marriage by staying in the league this year. It is hard to believe they can still qualify for the playoffs, but any team with a solid offense would destroy them. He better hang it up after this year, it is hard to watch a 1st ballot hall-of-famer hang on to long and really tarnish a fabulous career.

Huh?

This IU guy who never plays used his NIL money to pay off his sister's student debt? He is a benchwarmer. How much NIL money are these kids getting?

Thrilled about new pitt commits?

only after they sign on the dotted line, it great to see this guy or that guy commit to Pitt football and or basketball programs, but, waiting between the December signing day to the February signing day is not to bad not to long of time, but from February to December is a long time, so, no matter if the commit is a 3 star or a 4 star or even a 5 star, just because they commit to Pitt doesn’t mean they will sign their loi to Pitt, to name a few Kenny Minchey, Henry Parrish, football, Judah Mintz, Hood Shefino basketball. And that sucks, when they sign their loi to Pitt, I’ll get more excited, but until they do they are not Pitt athletes
