Recruiting Update Another visitor

To add to the list Chris posted about yesterday....

Joey Zelinski, a 6-4 250-pound DE from Eastern Michigan tells me he is also visiting right now. Zelinsky would have one year to play and is a Pennsylvania native, and attended Blue Mountain HS, the same HS as Gavin Bartholomoew. Zelinsky was a senior when Gavin was a junior in HS, so they were former teammates...

He had 67 tackles, 11.5 TFLs, and 3.5 sacks the past two seasons for EMU.

The ACC Sucks!!!! 1-8 in bowl games, disaster in the ACC/SEC Challenge....Disrespect everywhere!!!!

I am sorry......you got to fire Jim Phillips, the ACC Commissioner. He has been an abject disaster. I know much of this is not directly his fault, but as we have seen in Presidential elections, sometimes the events and results cost elected officials their jobs. The ACC was an aggressor in the 2000's, with the Big East raid, then taking Pitt and Syracuse, but as we joined we got a chance to see behind the curtain a conference really run by hayseeds. The ACC hired Jim Phillips from the Big 10 (Northwestern) but he has almost acted like like a double knot spy for the Big 10/SEC in killing the ACC. Basketball has crashed and burned. Now football is doing the same.

As I said, yeah alot is not his fault but.....................he is the man in charge. You got to fire him and get someone else, just to change momentum, hell karma aka "juju" because Phillips seems to have the reverse Midas touch and everything he does turns to crap.

The ACC has to move on from this guy. It has become a complete embarrassment. And the networks and media and sycophants of the power 2 are preying on this.

NIL players who leave may get sued

A door has opened that a player who was compensated and left the program could be viewed as detrimental and hurting the program. Since compensation was made, this would allow the NIL donor to sue the player since their actions had an adverse effect on their business or in this case the program. The non-compete clause is still active and is not likely to be overturned anytime soon. Many of these kids will get sued for leaving and have to give back money or sit out.

So what exactly do we want and expect Pitt to be?

Let’s put aside the frustrating loss today. When I got into the Pete today 15 minutes before tip I was floored to see a hand empty are arena.

This is a borderline top 25 team. Yeah I know they lost a day but in reality, Louisville is a good team and it’s not gonna do much to drop them off. The fact of the matter the huge stretches of the pete today were empty speaks a lot with Pitt fans are.

This isn’t anything new either. The end of the Dixon era, we saw the exact same issues. Those were also still not bad teams, yet people stop showing up, and I saw all the excuses on here of how it wasn’t good enough.

Fast-forward to now and we are seeing the exact same thing. Excuse after excuse after excuse as to why the fan base shouldn’t support what is a pretty good product. Is it really the case that the only type of program you will except is a top 10 program. Will you not support it otherwise. Are you so spoiled by the success of the Steelers and the penguins that you have lost all perspective on what it should be.

Especially now in this age of pay to play, it’s more important than ever for people to show up and for there to be broad support from the fan base. I know not everyone can afford to be a whale. It is easy for me to say that because I am one of those people that can’t afford it. That said I do what I can I go to games and I support the team the team we played today not not only are they well coached they have both of money to throw around to players that frankly we don’t have

So what is it? You guys all seem to want Duke level results on a Duquesne level budget. We are consistently losing out on top transfer targets because we simply get out bid. I don’t want to rehash the adou situation, but it was frankly embarrassing and if he’s here we aren’t having this conversation today.

Not really going to lie, I’m really sick
Of It all. I’m tired of the pay to play, but I’m also very much over this group of fans that expects so much for peanuts. I tire I watching our “big” donors, who are frankly small fries compared to other schools play games to get they’re connections bigger deals elsewhere and think we can be big time on football when we have no shit .

I’ll say it again, if I were capel id get out of dodge. I think he’d excel at a school with a full commitment. The reason he’s kept rosters together is because of the culture he’s built…I guarantee jaland could have made more money somewhere else, but he wanted to be here, just like bub’ choice was nba or here.

I just have a real hard time seeing a good path forward

Any tennis fans here? I never liked it all my life. Then I got into gambling a few years ago. Suddenly tennis was a lot of fun.

The 4 majors are the most fun, as the best of 5 matches bring out the best in everyone, and they can have insane momentum swings. The women do still play best of 3 in the majors.

The men are so ridiculously good. I have a lot of respect for them. Had I actually watched them play years ago, I probably would have noticed this, but I thought tennis wasn't for football and basketball fans.

The women are very good too, but there's a giant difference in ground covered and ball speed in men vs women. And women have a lot more trouble holding serve, making them the more difficult side to wager on.

Australian native Nick Kyrgios lost last night. Not unexpected. He was hurt last year. He's one of the most entertaining players out there.

I'm a big fan of Ben Shelton, who won the singles national championship at Florida a few years ago. He's still probably too inexperienced to win this, but he could make a 1/4 final for sure.

Jannik Sinner is the men's favorite at +110. Carlos "the kid" Alcaraz is next at +320, and Joker is +700. Sinner was probably the best player in the world in 2024. If you made me pick, I'd take Sinner or Carlos to win it all, but I could also see Zverev, Medvedev, Rune, and maybe Fritz winning.

Aryna Sabalenka is the women's favorite at +160, followed by "queen" Iga Swiatek of Poland at +430, and then Coco Gauff, an American fan favorite, at +500. I would pick Iga to win, and also throw in there Qinwen Zheng and Elena Rybakina as having a chance.

But in either the men or women, there could be someone coming out of the cut to make noise.

Probably any of the top 20 favorites on either side could win it. There's more parity than in college football.

Tennis basically operates on a calendar year, so this is the first big event of the new season. I do like to wait a few months into the new year to see who has the best form before I really wager on anyone. The unknown of the new year leads to a lot of excitement and upsets.

Poor attendance today?

Full disclosure, I couldnt make the game today but my tickets were used. The place sounded dead on TV. Couldnt really get a good idea of the crowd other than the Zoo but there's a post on the premium board complaining about the crowd. Not sure what excuses Pitt fans have anymore. Everyone left during and after Dixon 2 and they are NEVER coming back at these prices unless we are a NC contender. We are never going to many single game tickets so my advice to AD Greene is slash season ticket prices like crazy next year. Make them the cheapest in the P4 and market the hell out of them. Sell the place out cheaply and start raising prices every year. You need a base. We lost the whole base and they're gone for good.

Also, this is probably going to be my last year buying season tickets. I cant make all the games and I am 1 million percent against donating to the Panther Club in this day and age. If they made it a player salary donation instead, I'd do that. But no more PC donations from me for the right to buy tickets. I sold my lower level Stanford tickets for $5 each. I'm just going to Stubhub it next year unless Pitt makes an effort to put people in the building. Nothing against the team. I'll go to the same amount of games. I like the program but basketball marketing is a 0.0. Beyond disgusted with how little effort the athletic dept puts into basketball. This team deserves to have fans cheering for it.

Why Dugger didn't play all year....

still has me baffled when Eli got hurt late in games. Honestly, Kade Bell was supposed to be this genius how could he miss this. Granted it was one game, but JD has it, he is electric and u can see the kids want to play for him. To have Yarnell as the backup who has cement shoes is mind-blowing. Honestly, if I am JD I would consider hitting the portal with that performance today or ask for more NIL money because of the game he had. I think JD should get an honest competition with Eli to see who the starter is next year. We all know it will be Eli because of the NIL but JD impressed all of us today, so I hope he gets on the field a helluva lot more than he did this year.
