2022 recruiting

I don’t think he’ll have that great of a class either way. So that’s a moot point.

and it will be way less than 80 percent. You’re off. As always. Done with this line of “argument”. You’re flat out wrong.

Then he has to go, making too much money to give these HORRIBLE RESULTS

He's going to get 3 more years to show improvement. Think of this as year 1 again.
Why do people get Year 1 again, again?

Your ever hear two wrongs don't make a right? Don't throw good money after bad?

Isn't that what we are doing here?

It's just how i see it through my perspective. I didn't want to project any right or wrong in my opinion

Yes, tear it all down. How could it get any worse? 🙄

Agreed!

I mean partly kidding but we’re 15-39 in the ACC the last 3 years. Other than Stallings are there many that are gOnna do worse.

Here was CBS's take on the hire.

Pitt: Jeff Capel
Previously: Assistant coach at Duke
Career record: 175-110
NCAA Tournament record: 4-3
Regular-season conference championships: 1

Evaluation: Capel, 43, is back to running a program for the first time since he was fired at Oklahoma in 2011. Pittsburgh, which I and many other coaches would rank 10th or 11th in the ACC in job appeal, landed the most high-profile assistant coach in the game. Athletic director Heather Lyke seems to have made a nice hire here, though I'd be remiss not to mention that Capel did have 13 wins vacated while at Oklahoma due to violations made by one of his former assistants.

Capel's been integral to recruiting Duke to top-two status in recruiting classes year over year since 2012. He knows the league well and has nine years of experience as a head coach. This can work. Other solid options were out there for Pitt, but no one Lyke interviewed had the recruiting track record to match Capel.

Given the guy ranked right ahead of Capel (Tom Crean) is 14-40 over the same period in a much better situation... yeah, it could be a lot worse.

Wow, the standard is being 1 game better than Georgia basketball and Tom Crean. Move volleyball to the Pete and move B-ball back to fitz the program is dead.

I didn’t want Crean then and I wouldn’t now but Crean is also in a much better league. It’s unfortunate for him the SEC started hiring so much better.

You cannot do much worse than 15-39. Pitt can pick a random mid-major coach's name out of hat and its very likely they can go at least 15-39.

I don’t think anyone could argue with the Capel hire at the time. It was obviously a solid hire especially based on everything we know. But it just hasn’t clicked or worked here yet and he lost 4 starters off his best team. Even his biggest supporters would have to be concerned its not gonna happen at this point.
