9-2 Army Left Out of Bowl Game

BTW, Georgia Southern's seven win are a one pointer against Campbell, a five point win against Louisiana-Monroe, a clobbering of UMass, a seven point win against South Alabama, a seven point win against Troy, a two point win against Texas State, and a big 20-3 win against Florida International.

To put that into perspective, that's one FCS team, the team that finished number one in ESPN's Bottom Ten, a team that finished number two in the Bottom Ten, a team that finished tenth in the Bottom Ten, and another team that was on the Bottom Ten waiting list. That's five of their seven wins right there.

So what, they are a G5 team, and that is who they played and beat.

Are they a D1A football team or aren't they? If they don't want to be judged like a D1A team there are other places for them to play.

But I mean hey, I agree if you are going to play the Middle Tennessee State you might as well beat them. And Louisiana-Monroe. And Abilene Christian. And The Citadel. And UT-San Antonio. And Mercer. And Georgia Southern. But should they really expect some sort of kudos for doing so?
So are you going to say that North Dakota State doesn't run a solid program? Sure, they play in a different part of D1 and probably wouldn't fare all that great if they were in the Big 12, ACC, or Big 10. So what? There is no question they have a solid program given their level of resources, and given the schools that are their rivals and competitors. They enjoy doing their thing in FCS rather than competing in FBS, and they have plenty of pride in their program for good reason. You might be to used to being a Pitt fan mired in mediocrity, but winning 8 FCS national championships in the past decade is actually a lot of fun.

No, I think that North Dakota State runs a great program AT THE LEVEL THEY PLAY AT. No one, or at least no one with a functioning brain, thinks that if North Dakota State goes 14-0 that that makes them the best team in college football, because everyone is smart enough to understand the context.

Army's season is very good, IF you are willing to ignore the context. If you actually pay attention to the context, well, then not so much. Army doesn't play FCS football, although sometimes it can be hard to determine that from their schedule. If they did play FCS football then 9-2 against that schedule would be pretty good. But they don't.

It's just like when Pitt wins a football game 55-0. If that game is against Austin Peay then no one, or at least no one with a semi-functioning brain, thinks that's anything special. But if that game is against Clemson then everyone in the college football world would sit up and take notice. Why? Same score. Same result. Completely different context.

Good for Army.

Just happy a 9-2 team and service academy has a bowl to go to.
