a chicken wing thread

Sooooooo......I think it was the the Steelers/Browns playoff game (the game of the incredible comeback, Tommy Maddox was the QB and it was the game that spawned "Renegade") anyways....I was at a tailgate party, a well known one, and who comes walking by.............KENNY EFFING BANION!! I looked, I told my buddy, "hey, that's Kenny Banion!" Just weird coincidence.

I like Burgh's Pizza & Wing Pub . Lots of choices but like traditional Buffalo.
Harold's Inn - Aliquippa if you like seasoned whole wings.

I was going to write Burgh but they are too inconsistent, at least they used to be. Stopped going because of it being hit or miss.

had Harold's a few times. Very good if you eat it there. The worst wing I ever had for take out.

Not your standard grill/bbq or bar/pizza place type fare, but I had Korean fried wings for the first time in probably a few years tonight.

I live in Maryland as well and idk about “culinary desert”, but I get where you’re coming from about the hoagie/pizza/wing scene not being the same as it is in PA.

Yes have to admit. The Koreans make a mighty fine fried chicken. Ki Pollo in Lawrenceville does this well.

Admittedly, I haven’t been there lately. But Drover’s Inn, in Wellsburg, West Virginia has always had some awesome wings.

How strange it is that some of the best wings and ribs are in West Virginia. DeeJay’s ribs (in Weirton) still rank among the best ribs that I’ve ever had.

where? if MOCO, then you have way very good food options.

but yes, pizza/subs/wings here are whack.

Air Fryers are amazing. Not sure how many calories that saves on a typical batch of wings, but I see almost no difference to frying.

Buffalo Wild Wings Spicey garlic is the best wing sauce. So while their wings can be In consistent the sauce isn’t. So we have been air frying our own a lot and using a bottle of the sauce.

Let me give you a well kept wing secret in Pgh. Wheelhouse at Rivers casino. The sauce is OK, but the actual wings are incredibly tender. No clue what they do, but the chicken itself is incredible.

Big Shot Bobs esp the one in Sharpsburg. Also makes it a good excuse to get some Dancing Gnome.

YES! Came here to post this exact comment, almost made it through without someone mentioning Drover’s. I’ve lived in many places throughout the country but I’ve never had any wings better than Drover’s. We make a point to stop there every time we make it back east, well worth the drive for our Pittsburgh folks.

Also, on Dee Jays: We’ve lived in Kansas City (the BBQ capital of America) for six years now, and no one makes ribs better than them. Granted ribs aren’t as popular here believe it or not, but they’re still the best ribs I’ve ever had.

Now you have to complete the Ohio Valley trifecta and visit Giannamore’s or DiCarlo’s for some Steubenville-style pizza. Gotta love the Ohio Valley.
