Ticket sales are far and away the most.important consideration. TV ratings are very hard to predict, especially when dealing with programs who have very similar "program profiles" so to speak. I'm sure, yea, if a Pitt bowl game would blow away an NC State bowl game in terms of ratings, they'd take Pitt and fewer fans but how many ratings points are worth fewer tickets sold?

There is no guarantee that more people would even watch a Pitt bowl game over GT and NCSU, lets not kid ourselves. The bowl is always going to take the team that sells more tickets.

How do you know tickets are the most important consideration? These bowls do get paid television money and for years you have been saying television drives the bus.

souf, that's incorrect. NCSU has an undergrad enrollment of 24k; Pitt's is 19k. Neither school is huge.
