ACC officals in Orlando finalizing CCG

I have grown to only concern my needs. I would much rather fly to Orlando in a shorter amount of time driving to Charlotte IN DECEMBER.
Sure. That is another issue entirely. Of course you could have also flown to Charlotte. However, with our loss this past weekend, if you are going to the ACC-CG you probably aren't going to be there to cheer on the Panthers.

We'll see about UNC. Have to play FSU, VT and The U in the very near future.
No doubt, Miami could still get there, too, but they won't sell tickets whether it is in Orlando or Charlotte. They wouldn't sell tickets if it was in Miami.

It is an even shorter flight to Charlotte, than Orlando. Matters not to me where they play the game, as unless there is a major miracle, Pitt will not be involved--so I care not. Hail to Pitt!

It probably won't impact us and it definitely will mean less ticket sales.

However, given the choice, I would choose Orlando 10 out of 10 times. That said, Charlotte is a very nice city. They just have a really strange/backwards politics right now.

Miami would sell more tickets than UNC and maybe VT if VT is like 8-4 or something and their fans arent too excited. Miami has a big bandwagon following. Their fanbase is quasi-national which is why you see 2500 or so Miami fans every time they play at Heinz. There are Miami fans in other parts of Florida who would go to a CG in Orlando.

Worst-case for ACC is Louisville vs Pitt, Louisville vs UNC or Louisville vs a VT team that has taken too many losses.

I just find it amusing that since expanding the ACC, fans who live in North Carolina (for football AND hoops) may have to permanently travel for post season conference games. They can't be happy. ;)

You think Clemson wouldn't bring a brigade? Jesus
Will they bring as many people to Orlando as they would Charlotte? No, definitely not. Especially not if a win puts them in the playoff.

Not a chance in hell. A lot of sidewalkers trying to look cool wear Miami gear, but they don't travel. The amount of tickets they sell will barely fluctuate if the game is played in Orlando instead of Charlotte. For UNC it would be a massive difference.

Miami travels 15K-20K to Orlando and 5K to Charlotte. Come on, its a huge difference.

I hate to agree with SMF but if Miami has a shot for the ACC title they will go to Orlando.........trust me I know Miami fan habits
I don't see any way Miami brings 10-15k fans, let alone 10-15k EXTRA fans to Orlando instead of Charlotte. We will know in 2 weeks if it is even worth talking about.

I just gave you the answer, you refuse to listen.....When Miami fans have a reason and their blood boiling for something, sound familiar? They will show up.......I have gone up to Doak Campbell and Florida Field when they play there and they have a solid 12,000 at those games......

But whatevs

I just disagree that either 15-20k Miami fans would show up in Orlando OR that 10-15k extra would go to Orlando over Charlotte. They are both opinions. You can have yours. I can have mine. Not sure why anyone has to "listen" to the other and change their own opinion.

I think your example is bad. There is a huge difference between when two in-state hated rivals play a game and an ACC championship game. Be sure, the rivalry games always draw more attention and fans. Miami has a notoriously bad traveling fan base. While I agree with the premise that Miami would certainly sell more tickets if they were hypothetically playing in the ACC championship game in Orlando versus Charlotte--the only way there would be 10K plus Miami fans in Orlando for such a game would be if it was versus FLState. Hail to Pitt!

Come on, didn't you see The U and The U Part 2? The State of Miami runs up the east coast to Daytona, down I-4 to Tampa, and back to Dade County..CUZ IT'S ALL ABOUT THE U BABY!

If Miami in in the ACC Championship game their fans would show up regardless of opponent....

No, no, no, it isn't. Even your opinion/observation that you have seen "a solid 12,000 (Miami fans) at Doak Campbell and Florida Field" isn't a fact.

Do you just not know what a fact is?
You said Miami won't travel for a big game.....I said Miami will travel for a big game and have done it and will do it....There is no debate....good day....FACT

1. I did not say that.
2. You saying you think they had a "solid 12k at FSU and UF games" is neither a fact, nor a fact disputing my opinion.
3. You obviously don't know what a fact is.

No I didn't say I think, I said I know and yes you said Miami wouldn't travel for the ACCCG.....good day sir I am done talking about Miami

No, you said "they had a solid 12,000" which was based on your observation and thoughts. That. Is. Not. A. Fact.

Do you think it is a fact when a PSU fan says "PSU had a solid 40% of the crowd at Heinz this year"? That is exactly the same thing.

I did not say Miami fans wouldn't travel for the game. I'm not sure how you have seemingly misread the posts over and over.

I think it depends on who Miami plays and what the stakes are. If they are playing FSU with a chance to go to the playoffs, the Canes might bring that many people to Orlando. If they are playing Louisville or Clemson and the Canes have no shot at anything other than the ACC Championship... yawn...

Really? The question being debated was how many...not if any. LOL...really out on a limb there. Hail to Pitt!

Miami has a very small core fan base. They are drawing better this year, in a way that seems detached from their historical trendancies so who knows how they might travel to Orlando. That said, I wouldn't put money on them filling a third of that stadium.

UM's core fan base is worse than Pitt's.

For those that dont think Miami will sell many tickets in Orlando, turn on the Miami/GT game now. The upper deck seems to have a majority of Miami fans. Lots of orange. Maybe 8K Miami fans there at least.

Here's the thing with Miami's fanbase: its a national "bandwagon" fanbase. They will always struggle at the gate at home but if they are good and are playing for something, their bandwagon fans within 2 hours or 3 hours of the city they are playing in show up. Of all the Big East/ACC teams that have made multiple trips to Heinz, only WVU and VT have brought more fans than Miami.
