The holding penalties are garbage. I'm sick of the ACC and their cheating. Pathetic.

Eh who knows, but there’s little question that Pitt didn’t come ready to play. That’s the bigger issue.

Pitt came ready to play. WF isn't a bad team but a holding call here and there sprinkled in with a Pass Interference call or no call on holds change the game.

What about the targeting on Ollison? No call on play that knocks him out of game. Yet against Virginia the replay official initiates a TARGETING call against Jones???? I mean WTF ??????

So can someone fill me in on why the refs are better off it Pitt loses?
Who Knows???

Maybe they have wake and the points? Maybe someone paid them with wake and the points? Maybe they are just wake fans??

I don’t think it’s an ACC dictating wake wins, I thinks it’s just refs with an agenda

Maybe this, maybe that, I don't know...thanks that was really a great and convincing explanation about why the refs are against Pitt.

Virginia in the championship game would be greatly preferred over Pgh for ratings and attendance.

But it's mostly on Pitt for being full of ourselves and unprepared.

Looks like Detroit Bowl in our future. Which is better than expected a month ago. So theres that.

So why didnt' they do this last week for VT? VT has a huge following and brings big ratings.

I acknowledged Pitt ultimately deserves the loss.

But the question was, what would be a motive for conference bias, IF there was any. And that was answered.

There's always also the fear that they think we might actually knock off Clemson again. :D

But i think we can revert to Pitt being its own main enemy, as it usually is

I know, but saying the refs/ACC are screwing Pitt in this game to help a VA team due to attendence and ratings vs Pitt is screwing themselves are two different statements.

I am only asking about your claim that the refs and ACC are doing this to get a team that brings better attendence and ratings than Pitt to a bowl...why didn't they do this for VT, because they bring way more fans and ratings than Pitt. Why didn't they screw Pitt over last week?

No one is tuning in to watch the ACC title game because Virginia is in it, absolutely no one.

Were this true you would’ve seen some serious betting irregularities, which did not happen.

The pointspread closed almost exactly where it opened.

You don’t need an explanation you just need eyes!
if you can use your eyes to find out why the refs would screw over Pitt, then please share.

I can understand how you can use your eyes to find bad calls, but to get to the refs motivations for making bad calls is something else. What do your eyes show you about that? Sounds like you may have one of those palm reading, crystal ball, psychic gigs on the side here which is really exciting.

99% on Pitt if you insist on a number.

But it's pretty hard to fathom that they're would such a discrepancy in penalties at this point. It's always going to raise eyebrows in a sport that's historically filthy

I just told you.

And I said I DO NOT THINK THE ACC is doing it

It’s bad refs

The calls are horrible

Here is what you said:

"

Now, I didn't claim you were putting this on the ACC. However, as you can see above, you clearly think this is due to the refs wiht an agenda, and that you just need eyes to get to their motivations.

So please share their agenda and motivaitons to screw Pitt today. FWIW - someone already is using better ratings and fan base of VA...you can recycle that one if you can't make up something yourself.

I’ve thought for years the BIG refs were the absolute worst, but the ACC refs have been horrible this year. Not just in Pitt games either, but in literally every game.

They need some new crews.

Ok.

Ummm

Cheating now????
Well we will never see this ref crew again after this game. They did the worst job possible getting Wake to beat Pitt to fit their agenda. The game is 34-13 Pitt and not even over.

I bet the ACC is going to give this crew a huge ass chewing, then show them the door. It will be a good lesson for the other crews

Anyone just see Ohio St get hosed on a horrible PI call that may cost them the game?

May end up keeping the BIG out of the title game again if OSU beats Michigan next week.

i assume you meant the phantom holding call on QO's end run for a TD. Makes the KP/MFF hookup for a TD that much sweeter.

That holding call was just flat out embarrassing.

The JO who threw the flag should commit honor suicide.

Gotta love that KP came back and absolutely stuck that that throw to FFrench as an F you.

The sooner you understand that there is a nationwide conspiracy among both football and basketball officials to screw Pitt over at every possible moment for some reason that no one on earth can fathom the better off you'll be in understanding these kinds of posts.

Thank you. I understand now.

the acc officials are always going to favor the old school ACC teams. I am sure most of the ACC officials would much rather see VA in the championship game. Now if Pitt had went 3-1 OOC and had a 8-2 record going in they would likely swallow their pride and side with Pitt since that would be more beneficial for the ACC championship game. I bet Pitt ends up with a pretty big penalty + next week against the Canes. Since Pitt is already in the ACC will want a Pitt win.

Here's another more likely scenario. VT and Foster were likely quite embarrassed last week. Would not be surprised that they might have had their AD call the conference and complain about Pitt "getting away" with holding. ACC refs already don't like Narduzzi much. So voila, this game comes, suddenly a shit load of holding calls. When they're all on ONE team, none on the other, it simply is suspect. It's like a home plate umpire with a peculiar strike zone... if this particular crew was all church-lady about holding, you'd see holding calls on both sides.

The pre snap penalties, obviously on the team and showed they weren't quite focused during the week.

The canes were in the BE just like Pitt...are you saying they will be treated better by the refs

No old Big East teams, Bb or FB, ever get the calls in the state playing in North Carolina. Go back and watch our loss to UNC. Absolutely disgusting the non calls and even the call against us when we intercepted the pass and ran it back 80 yards to like the 3. Then called back on a bogus call. Even the announcers were totally perplexed all game and openly questioned the calls during the game.

Here is an even more likely scenario...the ACC refs from NC and when they go home, their neighbors give them a box of cigarettes if the traditional ACC team one, but they don't get anything if a non traditional ACC team wins. Imagine getting free cigs and people talking to you about the game you refd vs being shunned and no free smokes. That explains why we get so many bad calls.

All this whining and moaning is just so much noise and meaningless. All I know is that even at 8-5, which is the best possible record that Pitt could get to, Pitt will go to another exhibition game that is of no interest to anyone except some die hard Pitt fans and fans of the opposing team, and the players and coaches of the respective teams. It's fun for all of them, and pretty much meaningless to 99% of the rest of the population. 8 wins should be the minimum number of wins to get to any "bowl" game, and that's probably where we'll be under the best circumstances.

But if we happen to beat Miami AND Clemson, then maybe we get to a big boys bowl where it actually is a bowl game. Then people may take notice of Pitt.

You seem pretty defensive about getting owned in this thead.

Take it easy. The good guys still managed to win... this time.

I don’t know, it’s hard to top your statement that the bad calls were made because the ACC wanted Virginia and their massive national fan base in the title game.

There are literally 200 Virginia football fans in the entire country, they would be one of the worst draws ratings wise in the entire conference.

I actually agree, though they'd probably be more likely to travel to Charlotte.

But you're right, Va or Pitt, who would really care either way, ratings wise.

My later scenario (about butthurt VT whining to the conference about us last week) was likely the right one.

Well, we've settled that.

You got me. You knew this was about uva and their mass following. I didn’t

Is the acc losing billions or just millions with Pitt in their spot ?
