ACC staring at 3 NCAAT teams right now

I disagree with this. The reality is , based on talent, there are only 3 NCAAT caliber teams. I dont care if you play 10 conference games or 30, that's the reality. NC State has NCAAT talent but a bad coach so maybe 4 NCAAT caliber teams.

You know more than 4 will get in, right?

The irony is this situation is exactly why I said the 20-game schedule was a bad idea. You don't increase the strength of the conference by beating each other up more. The ACC was not competitive with the other P6 leagues in the OOC, and now we're going to get a whole bunch of teams around 10-10.

It would've been a lot better for our teams to go 1-1 or 2-0 against other P6 opponents than dragging each other down. I don't think the goofy method of integrating the first two conference games into the season really helped matters either.

No doubt that’s a factor. But ESPN likely demanded more conference games for inventory for the ACCN.

You want your own linear channel/network? You have to compromise in exchange for the big $$$$.

How can he troll this site by letting it just play out?
Exactly - I would love to put the guy on ignore, but he starts so many posts and others simply can't ignore him, that it's almost impossible to, as you could miss salient information from someone else that happens in his threads.

Hopefully, good things keep happening at Pitt, because if you pay attention, he disappears (or more likely posts using another handle) when positive stuff occurs. When Pitt had all those football guys verbal at once last year, he disappeared for days (this after pouting about how bad recruiting was going for the previous weeks). When Pitt beats UNC twice, it's all about preemptively harboring on how horrible they are this year. When Pitt came back to beat BC just the other day, he was gone the entire game and the evening thereafter. Even if he was 'at the game', you're telling me that a dude that posts 18 hours a day, 50 times+ a day isn't going to log-on before bed after an exciting win if he's a Pitt fan?

And now his new obsession, claiming how highly he thought of Marcus Carr...come on! I know many people supported that 0-18 team beacuse we're Pitt fans, but Gary, myself and FSGolf seemed to consistently lay claim to the belief there was more talent than met the eye on that squad. Right or wrong, and I don't care at this point, I hardly recall SMF being a part of that support group. Now he can't stop patting himself on the back about him. It's psychotic.

Such a sad, attention-seeking existence. I used to feel bad for him, but no longer.

1. I was at the BC game. Got home at midnight. I dont think I posted after the game because I went to bed. Were you 1 of the other 3000 people there?

2. It is human nature to be more negative about negative things than to be more positive about positive things. When teams lose, message board get more traffic. People get upset. Human brains work that way. If Pitt wins a regular game, the message boards arent going to light up with people so excited about it. Fans expect to win those games.

3. I battled with guys on here that entire year saying Carr and Stewart were good players. Some even called me a Kevin Stallings fan. I was high on those 2. The others, I didn't think were any good. I did think Stevenson was decent but I was probably wrong.

4. I posted several times when Narduzzi landed 10 or so P5-level players in that quick flurry.

Im way too lazy to find it, but when the transfers started I posted on here asking why no one was mentioning Carr as much as the others because I thought he was by far the one with the most upside. So you weren’t alone with you Carr opinion.

I don’t remember all that many of your predictions, but I do remember the one from earlier this season projecting Pitt to the Holiday Bowl even though the ACC contract didn’t start until the following season.

Yes, of course that is the truth, and sooner or later it seems like every conference will be playing a longer schedule. The point is that dedicating more of your schedule to conference games limits what kind of resumes your teams can achieve. The nature of it is that half of your teams are going to lose those games. You have to schedule in a way to counteract that.

That is an easy, convenient excuse. The Big Ten plays 20 games + 2 conference challenge games. Many "bracketologists" have them getting 11 in. They have 12 teams in the Top 50.

The issue with the ACC is coaching. You look at Nebraska and they hired Fred Hoiberg (Sweet 16 by Year 4 was my prediction). LSU hired Will Wade. Alabama hired Nate Oats. TCU hired Jamie Dixon. Illinois hired Brad Underwood. OKST hired the brother of the #2 recruit to get him to go there. These non-traditional basketball schools are suddenly taking basketball very seriously why BC, Wake, GT, Clemson, and to some extent NC State just screw around.

You forgot the best hire of all, Texas Tech and Chris Beard.

Yes, that's the whole point. Playing extra conference games amplifies your OOC results. If you have a bunch of below-average teams, it pulls everyone down. If you have a bunch of top-50 teams, it makes everyone else better and makes all of your wins good and all of your losses nearly excusable.

The ACC had a losing P6 record and now we've got a bunch of roughly .500 teams that nobody will care about in March. Nobody is going to be impressed if Clemson gets an extra two wins over GT and WF.

Wow, forgot about that one. These football schools are kicking the ACC's @ss in coaching hires. Also Musselman at Arky but I'm not 100% sold on him

Im more than sold on Musselman, guy is a great coach. Not sure how much you’ve watched them this year, but he definitely has them playing his style of basketball. They don’t have quite the personnel to run his system the way he wants, but I’m sure that’s going to change next year when he gets his type of guys in.

Enormous comeback win for UVa over FSU. Probably puts them right there as the last 1 or 2 teams in or out.

Debilitating losses by Syracuse and VT and then NC State on Monday. So, right now its 3, probably 4 with UVa if they can keep winning.

Syracuse is in a must-win vs Duke Saturday. They only play Duke, FSU, and Lou once and they may have to win 2 of those because they dont have any top-notch wins.

The funny thing is with our wins over FSU and Rutgers (barf), we would have been in a decent position to make a run at the NCAAT. In fact, if we would have beaten Nicholls and Wake, we would have probably been on that Last 4 In line First Four Out right now.
