And so it begins - Gabe Roberts moving on

You're right he won't be the last. The good news is that a lot of the guys Chryst recruited were solid in the classroom. The bad news is they weren't able to contribute at this level athletically, which is why it didn't really matter how young we were 2 years ago. most of these guys couldn't help us win if they were here 10 years.

Really hope Grimm can show something at guard this year. It's time for him to show he belongs.

He isnt transferring, he graduated, so not sure why a thank you note is needed. I guess it is classy and shows he wasnt pushed out, but I dont blame him if he isnt going to play and wants to attend grad school

Show he belongs? He will get his shot, but he just completed his RS freshman season... few OL prospects are expected to have had made an impact, at this point in their careers. That is not the first time this type of comment about Grimm has been posted here. The last name on his jersey shouldn't create an unfair expectation for him versus peers. When DJ and Biz were asked to play so early, it was a much different depth chart situation and both had very notable growing pains and struggles that otherwise may have been worked out outside of game action.

I think we are still over the limit by six scholarships. Guy, Wuestner, and Lewis are all RS Seniors. If they have graduated or are graduating by the end of the summer semester, they will probably move on as well. If that happens we will still need three more to leave the program as well.

Or just doesn't want to get hit in the head anymore; and retain some of that knowledge he gained in the classroom. I certainly don't blame someone who likely won't play much or at all for wanting to save their body once they already graduated.

Roberts had shoulder issues and probably best for him to hang up it up and not damage his body any more.

I like to see that the guys that move on have gotten their degrees, at least they didn't waste that opportunity
Congrats to Gabe.I love to see athletes graduate they make hard working productive employees just like vets.
And they dont expect "special" treatment. They just want opportunity.Sports and the military provided them with excellent leadership training.

Just curious, but why ask that? Is that the way things are done now?

No. But I think we should honor them, maybe at half time. Let them say a few words. Rip their jersey off and throw it at a DANCE TEAM member and make her sniff it. Then place a banner in the upper deck in his honor. We can have banners everywhere for everything. Retired players, graduated classes, x players. Can you think of anymore? X AD's, and X coaches all having banners somewhere in the stadium, er, i mean field.
