This game meant a lot in terms of the Bowl game we end up in. We really fall down the pecking order now and probably end up in Annapolis (maybe Pinstripe best case). Bigger bowls with national attention would have been in play with 2 wins to finish out the season. Seems like another downer for the program. 9-3 vs potentially 7-5 and a bowl loss against a good Navy team is a big deal.

Only if we lose to BC.

It was always going to the the Orange or Pinstripe. The Belk is never an option. The Sun is out. Camping World was always ND. Had a slight chance at the Music City.

Navy is not a good team.

Of course that doesn't mean that if we play them they can't beat us.
They were ranked in the top 25 last week before losing to ND and they have a weird style of play. Pitt hasnt been outstanding in bowl games and I can't imagine their enthusiasm would be too high going to that game. Just saying not an easy win for a non-T1 bowl game

Your forgetting Louisville tho (who also beat UVA) in your other post. They travel better and geographically will probably get the music bowl.

They've played two teams better than mediocre all season. They lost to Memphis, a borderline top 25 team, and then when they played a middle of the top 25 team in Notre Dame they got absolutely hammered. They probably aren't one of the 50 best teams in the country.

Which, as I said, doesn't mean that they couldn't beat us.

Navy’s actually a pretty good story this year, great turnaround after a dismal 2018.

That being said their best win is over Air Force, and they aren’t nearly as good as the Navy teams from a few years ago. Playing them in the Military Bowl would be a very disappointing finish to a season that seemed to have a lot of promise a few hours ago.

Right. Besides Air Force they have wins over 7-5 1AA Holy Cross, 4-7 ECU, 3-7 Tulsa, 4-6 USF, 6-5 Tulane and 2-9 UConn. There isn't even close to a good team on that list.

Just have to find a way to beat bc and it's a solid season

If they end the year 9-4 and finish recruiting strong, then that is a very good year.

Great. Another bowl loss and 6 loss season for the defensive genius. Can’t wait for his snarky press conference on Monday.

Any chance we make it to the Music City Bowl in Nashville? As a KC resident I’d love a chance to maybe play Missouri and go down for the game with some buddies.

Navy beat SMU today. Don't sell any service academy short, even though Notre Dame trashed them through the air.

Was a nice win for Navy, not a huge surprise though. SMU has been running on fumes for a few weeks now, which is why Navy was a 3.5 point favorite today.

I was really hoping for that as well, doesn’t look so good after today. Been a tough go for Mizzou lately, need to beat Tennessee to avoid dropping their 5th in a row.

Not anymore.

Its Tier 2/Annapolis unless ND winds up in the Top 11 and gets a NY6 Bowl. That would open up a Tier 1 slot and we'd go to the Pinstripe

My gut is Louisville ends up here mostly because of geography. I feel a lot of these non-big 6 bowls end up being geography based. The belk bowl rather take one of the North Carolina or Virginia schools than Pitt and Louisville is closest to Nashville.

Wake forest is also tied with duke at the moment. Probably the acc school that would travel the worst. The pinstripe would probably rather take Pitt than wake if they are given that choice.

Almost went to tonight’s game in Columbia with a buddy, decided to take a rain check and go to their basketball game at the Sprint Center on Monday. I think they finish 7-5 with wins over Tennessee and Arkansas.

They looked good to start the season but fell apart after their top LB went down and Kelly Bryant has been a bit shaky.

Of course they would but the Pinstripe will take the UVa/VT loser over Pitt.

I’d take the Pinstripe vs a Big 10 team any day of the week over playing navy on their home field. Would be a meaningless win and a horrible loss as it was a few years ago.

Just wanted to point out to you that Navy IS a good team. If they were in the ACC, they would end up with a record very similar to Pitt.

No, they aren't, and no, they wouldn't. What their game today showed is that I was wrong. There aren't three, there are TWO American teams that would fit right in with the muddled masses of the Coastal, and the rest would still fight it out with Georgia Tech for the cellar.

And Navy will wipe us out.

Yep, "Joe the Panther Fan", they are. Sadly, they are probably as good as Pitt is year in and year out over the last 25 years or so. You know how I know that? Because Pitt will not play them. Every year Notre Dame finds a way to make room for them on their schedule, Pitt can not. Pitt would rather schedule schools like Delaware or New Hampshire instead of playing a team that would bring many more fans to Heinz Field, PLUS it would give Pitt fans a chance to experience the incredible atmosphere of a football game versus one of our nations proud military academies.

How exactly do we avoid playing Navy? They play 9 conference opponents, along with ND and Army every year.

Wrong again. Navy doesn't really want to play us. I have no idea if Pitt would or would not want to schedule Navy, but it doesn't make any difference because Navy doesn't want to schedule Pitt. Navy would rather play schools like Holy Cross than a team that would bring many more fans to Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

For the record, Army is the same way. They generally have no stomach for playing higher level teams as well. And generally for good reason.

The downside of playing navy for Military bowl is the midshipmen are home on Christmas break. the game misses the pageantry of a regular season game. of course its great for the DC area defense contractors.Annapolis is a great town
