Another former Pitt QB starting in the NFL

Good for Nate. I just hope this start will go better than the ones with the Bills. Would go a long way to cementing him as a career NFL backup (not a bad gig at all).

What a win-win for us. A former Pitt QB gets a start in the NFL, and our second round pick from them will have a shot at being 32nd overall.

Somehow I forgot that he was even still hanging around.

For what it's worth as a Steeler fan, would be a lot cooler if the Bears lost. Sorry Nate.
I mean it’s Nate Peterman starting for the Chicago Bears. I’m not sure there’s a whole lot to worry about as a Steeler fan unless the Vikings rest everyone.

The Texans play the Colts and the Bears play the Vikings. There is a decent chance that happens.

Going back to 2011
Palko
Savage
Peterman
Dinucci
Pickett

Have all started NFL games.

Crazy to think the only Pitt starting QB's who haven't started an NFL game in that time are

Tino
Voytik
Browne

I have to be forgetting one or two

If you’re including the Palko days, Biwwy Stull also did not start. I believe the farthest he got was training camp with the Chiefs.

Did Trey Anderson start a game at Pitt (maybe Utah)? Yellen started against ND in 2020 with Pickett injured.

Not surprised in the least .
Nate was and continues to be a "Steady Eddy" .

Edit: And agree . Would be a decent back up to Kenny ...

Tino started some games with Saskatchewan of the CFL

Nate was at the helm of the greatest Pitt offense I’ll certainly ever see. It was incredibly entertaining and with even a merely bad defense (it was a terrible defense) we likely would have been a playoff team. So I wish Nate the greatest success each time he gets a shot, though he hasn’t had much to this point. Still, he’s in the league.

In the league and probably set for life given he seems like a smart guy. And he’s already made over 5 million! That number surprised me. But I guess he’s been in the NFL longer than I thought.

Also his current OC is another former Pitt QB, Luke Getsy. Never started here but he did at least see some action.
