For a third it may have been worth it although I think Adams best days are behind him. Hed still be better than anyone on the steelers roster though.

it really is. i watched the 1pm game, browns vs eagles (Because pittsburgh didnt get the ravens - redskins game) and it was brutal, i mean it hurt me to watch it. was over my neighbors, and just absolutely hurt me physically, mentally and emotionally to sit 3 hours and watch that freakin abortion of a game,waiting for the steelers..
i think the biggest place we'll miss Fields this sunday is in red zone. how many times did his running bail us out and get us 6 points?
It's bad, man. Even Steeler games are kind of background noise for me now. Like I took a nap at halftime thinking "if I wake up I wake up; If I don't I don't." It's better than nothing, obviously, but I really do feel like I watch out of habit. I only enjoy it when I'm with other people who actually care and there are some drinks involved.
College football, on the other hand is an event for me. Starts with GameDay and ends late at night. I'm checking in on games and flipping through channels all day.
the pitt vs Cal game last week was pretty much the equivalent of every single steeler game i've watched for the last 3 years. Just Boring AF and hoping for the clock to hurry up and the game can be over so i can get on with my day..
but that pitt game was an anomaly and i agree, college football all day is awesome. even last saturday with the oregon/tosu game and even the colorado game at like midnight.
Pretty sure Russ’s red zone TDs were really good, even last year. Let’s just hope that they get there. Haha. Hate to bring up the dreaded “P” word…but Russ and Fields are both an upgrade over Kenny there.
this fear of mine is more of a knock on the steelers' offensive players and play calling than it is a knock on Wilson.
any of our success offensively, well most of it anyways, came from Fields either taking off, avoiding the rush and moving, etc. we lose that. On flip side, Wilson SHOULD be much better in the pocket.
again, who knows, this could be a good move. im sure we will all have opinions on the matter monday morning..
Oh absolutely. It was actually something different for Pitt, so I enjoyed it. But that's damn near every Steeler game.
College just has so many more styles of play clashing. And it doesn't look like the players are too big/strong/fast for the field they're playing on like the NFL does. And if one game sucks, I'll pick from any of the five others on TV. And I don't have to see the same. damn. people game after game, year after year. And it's not championship or bust - at least not for most teams. Just better entertainment value, in my opinion, even with its many faults.
Oh no. The Steelers are going to overpay. They don't have an out with him and there isn't a backup plan. He's played well enough that people are talking about how he's saved his career and they won't be low enough to draft a starter. Fields is the guy whether he's worth it or not.
Well I don't think they would bench him/mess with his confidence, with him having a half-decent 4-2 record and coming off a 32-13 win, if they thought he was the future.

i had Allen and George WIlson on my fantasy team, needed both to score decent to win and i still didnt watch it. Been doing outer banks season 3 with my son.
also watching this survival show on netflix, not "alone" but the one with 4 teams. it's ok, all these survivor shows are kind of the same thing. they are all cold, all hungry, they eat squirrels and it takes them 4 days to start a fire, yet i still watch them so maybe im the problem..

How’d Dionte and George help Kenny? Granted Kenny didnt have them both at the same time for more than a handful of games but if they were what you guys claim they are, I suspect our QBs the past two years would be better. Kenny and Fields are below average throwers at this point in their careers and due to oline problems and weak offensive scheme and coaching, they could use dependable receivers, but Dionte and George ain’t them.
See there you go finally throwing some common sense into the discussion. But you indicated above that wins don’t matter if a QB doesn’t have good passing stats. You said that’s how QBs are measured.
But yeah…if W/L, running stats and other things are to be considered, then yeah I think we can find some common ground.
Fields as a qb makes a good RB.
But the overall offense is still mediocre and can’t win games
2023 and 2024 offenses were both 4-2 at this point in the season.
2023 pts per game through 6 games- 14.83
2024 pts per game through 6 games-20.67
2023 passing yards through 6 games- 209.5
2024 passing yards through 6 games- 184.0
2024 Fields rush yards through 6 games-38.5.
So Fields accounts for about 250 yards per game, while Kenny accounted for 210 yards per game (+whatever rushing yards he accurately)

Kenny is skiddish in the pros. He might have similar passing numbers, but I suspect he’d still create some sacks. Fields has broken off a lot of nice runs when the line breaks down.
damn. My stats above your post Picketts and Fields passing yards. If I would have taken the team passing yards instead, I’m pretty sure that number backs out yards lost via sacks. I bet that makes a big difference.

To be fair...Stewart's crappy play at the position brought the '98-'00 crappy results that really helped build the teams of the aughts. Although at this point I don't think they're interested in taking a step back even if it'd mean 2 steps forward.
Fields is creating some of his own problems. It was the same thing in Chicago. Missing open guys, ball not coming out on time, generally not operating within structure, etc. Those things lead to pressure. Wilson is going to start because he gives them a chance of actually operating the offense as intended. I do think Wilson is just about washed, mind you.
It’s a lot sexier conversation to debate Fields /Wilson and Pickett, but this year the biggest issue is the OLine . They’re not protecting the Qb or opening up enough holes to run through .
Fields is incredibly athletic , but he’s never going to beat teams with his arm especially with the current WR group .
If they go to Wilson it will be interesting to compare their play and it will give the Steelers an insight on whether or not to pay Fields .

Kordell was ahead of his time and the Steelers didn’t do him any favors giving him 3 new coordinators over 4 seasons.
And he’s giving Wilson the first team snaps .

See that’s where you are missing the point. Mitch was terrible. Kenny was not and neither is Justin.
Mason is gone because he had enough of the BS. He had a choice. But they absolutely wanted him back.
What people don’t understand is that Kenny was/is still an unfinished product. Was he going to grow and develop quickly here within the confines of this offense with the lack of talent around him? Of course not. All that we know is that he’s not an uber pedigreed plug and play QB.
Is Justin an unfinished product? Probably not, but he’s a lot closer to it, having twice the appearances as Kenny.
But what I find most weird about your positions on this, is that you defend Pickett yet bash Fields. Their production is creepy similar.
