Anyone else catch Rob King doing play by play today?

First game Hillgrove has missed in 26 years. Bill deserves the right to go out on his own terms but wow, what a difference. *Fingers Crossed* that this is a sign that Rob will eventually become the voice of the Steelers and PITT.
Good basketball player. Can really shoot it.

Probably unpopular and hate that I fee this way but....

I enjoyed Hillgrove back in the day much like with Groat but now believe that there are better options.

My observations of Hillgrove are different with reagards to his Steelers vs. Pitt football braodcasts. It ssems as though the Steelers must have better monitors and/or spotters (or something). During his Pitt football broadcasts, you almost have to wait for the next play to begin before you are certain that the last play was called correctly. Reception vs. intercaption, fumbles, first downs vs. not, yards gained on the play, blah, blah .... just can't trust anything as the action is happening. He is a legend but maybe time for him just to enjoy the games as a fan - and sadly I felt the same about Groat.
In Pitt broadcasts Hillgrove’s son is the spotter. That’s the difference. Both need to go ASAP.

Don’t be surprised if Billy Hilgrove ages quickly after surgery. He is 78 or 79 so tack on another year to start next season. Many people of that age who undergo surgery recover but also accelerate in terms of really slowing down if that makes sense. Both of my parents had major surgery in their early 80’s and both came through nicely but all of the siblings noticed a few months post op that they seemed to have lost a few steps. Nothing major but a noticeable decline. I hope Bill has successful surgery and becomes pain free. He might find that he doesn’t have his fast ball anymore and that he can’t continue both gigs.

The Steelers will likely go after someone with experience. Steeler play by play is a plum gig. This isn't 1970 anymore. They aren't going to tap some local unless they are elite. I also think the days of sharing their voice with a local college team are over. King could end up at Pitt though.

I was driving through Ohio a couple of years back, and a Browns game was on the radio. The difference in the quality of the play by play was amazing. I'm not asking for Kevin Harlan, just someone that can follow the plays.
