I have mixed feelings on this one as most here probably do. Ultimately, the line play and game day adjustments must improve to say the least. Play calling he has control over, the other he doesn't but probably influences the first.

Its going to be a long year. It goes beyond play calling. There was no rhyme or reason for many of his plays. Nothing built off of the last play. The best example was Canada and his Jet Sweeps. Once he established that he would start hitting counters and fakes etc off that. Whipple never did anything like that. Every play was its own, nothing was built off of anything. I really must say, as bad as Watson was, at least he did this simple concept.
Now there was a FOOTBALL Player. Know his family well.Good news. With the stability on the offensive side of the ball, maybe HCPN can finally spend some time and attention on the defense.

My source was $$$ again, darn him. H2P!
Are you hoping Pitt wins 8 or more games next year or are you rooting for them to lose, so you will have a reason to call for their firing?7 wins is pathetic for Pitt next year, esp with a 35 year old QB , 9 should be the target, and what a joke to keep Whipple, maybe we will be getting rid of all of them after 21.
Nothing like standing pat when you have an absolutely horrible offense. Maybe Pitt feared an age discrimination suit if the canned Whipple. 6-6 here we come.I have mixed feelings on this one as most here probably do. Honestly, I think this may work out best for everyone. Offense gets better with another year in the same system (with the same QB, too) and if it doesn’t, there is no “new coordinator grace period” and we likely move on from everyone after the season.7 wins is pathetic for Pitt next year, esp with a 35 year old QB , 9 should be the target, and what a joke to keep Whipple, maybe we will be getting rid of all of them after 21.

What better options do they have to get an OC who can miraculously transform the offense the way Canada did. Canada isn’t coming back. Bill Walsh is long dead. Offensive coordinators aren’t falling out of the sky in Pittsburgh. You can rattle off names, but the likelihood that they want the job without much longevity attached to it is slim. And by longevity I mean Narduzzi is on the hot seat next season. He could easily be canned after next season and all assistants would be unemployed.
But wouldn’t you want to be that OC who saved his job? What better options do they have to get an OC who can miraculously transform the offense the way Canada did. Canada isn’t coming back. Pat Narduzzi heard of him. They were longtime friends. If he had another friend like that he probably would have hired him by now. These guys are nomads - one year deals or living in a city/place for a year and moving on is a way of life for these guys. So I don't think Narduzzi being on the hot seat would mean squat to these guys. Secondly, as far as OCs that aren't falling out of the sky - how did we find Canada? Who really heard of him prior to coming to Pitt?
No. If you are that good of an OC to create an offense out of nothing, then you could be a head coach somewhere already. But wouldn’t you want to be that OC who saved his job?
That’s his job to know - so I suspect he knows a few more...or knows of a few more.Pat Narduzzi heard of him. They were longtime friends. If he had another friend like that he probably would have hired him by now.
