Baylor making a statement so far

Happy for Matt Rhule. One of the “good ones” in college football. It’s early, but they look legit. A good defense in the Big XII goes a long way (hopefully I don’t jinx it!).

There is a ton of time left and Oklahoma can easily get back into this thing with the way they play defense in the Big 12. Either way, very impressive showing early on for Baylor.

OUs defense has been garbage so unless Baylor goes into a shell it’s going to be very difficult

also OU is without CEe Dee lamb their big playmaker.

not saying they can’t come back but it’s a pretty steep climb

Go Baylor, keep pouring it on. Anything so we don’t have to see 2 SEC teams in the playoff.

If you don’t want 2 SEC teams this game is going very poorly. If Baylor beats Oklahoma here and the Sooners return the favor in the Big 12 title game both teams are out and the chances of the SEC getting 2 in go way up.

I don’t see Georgia beating LSU and given Bamas issues I don’t see two SEC teams getting in

Well there was no way Oklahoma was ever going to get in with 1 loss so the best chance is Baylor winning out.

I don’t think Georgia can beat LSU either, but if the Big 12 eliminates itself a potential one loss Alabama even without Tua starts to look pretty good.

One thing is pretty much guaranteed, if Georgia somehow wins that game the SEC is definitely getting 2 in. I don’t think anyone would even complain about it.

I think many would complain about it if there are other viable candidates.

I don’t think there would be any more viable candidate than a one loss LSU with the schedule they would’ve played.

If Baylor is undefeated as well as Clemson and OSU I think there would be a lot of complaining and rightfully so.

Georgia’s loss was to a bad USC team

It may just be me, but I look at the Conference Championship games as essentially the 1st round of the playoffs. If LSU is good enough to be given the opportunity to play for the national championship, then they have no business losing their conference championship game.

I would never penalize LSU by putting another SEC team like Alabama in the playoff ahead of them while Alabama sat on the sidelines, but I sure would put in a 1-loss Oregon or Utah that won at the end when they needed to.

If LSU can’t win a game at the end of the year when needed, they don’t deserve to be in.

The selection committee looks at the four best teams, full stop. Among "similar teams" they do include conference titles but also head-to-head match ups and overall strength of schedule.

Their criteria is not like secret, it's the same every year.

Hey thanks but I really wasn’t wondering what the committee’s selection criteria was, just stating how I would look at it if there were 2 or 3 similar teams at the end and one had just lost.

Oklahoma was a half yard away from making it a one score game and they get an outstanding defensive play to force a fumble. Wow!

What’s up with this deal that college supposedly reviews every play. There was even a timeout there and they didn’t question that obvious and largely incorrect spot??

Turning into a fun game. Not a fan of big 12 (10 teams) football, but it’s certainly wild.

The good news for Baylor, their offense is fresh, they’ve been resting halftime plus all of the 3rd qtr.

Bad news is, that offense better do something now because the defense is running on fumes.

Jalen Hurts seems to be a class act, and a very good QB, with all he’s been through. I think he has an NFL future (Russell Wilson?) ahead of him.

Winner of this game catapult Penn St?

Oklahoma probably will. And obviously jumps Minnesota. They should have been ranked higher by the committee to begin with, they're #5 in S&P+ before this game, and may be higher than that after beating Baylor.

It didn't look like everyone was on the same page for the snap and that may have cost Baylor with the interception. Impressive comeback win for Oklahoma.

Thankfully you have no say so in who gets in and who doesn’t. A one loss LSU would have far and away the best resume of any 1 loss team, it literally wouldn’t be close.

The whole when you lose thing is really old school and thankfully the people who decide these things have realized it is meaningless.

I will (obviously) stick to what I said about then unbeaten Minnesota after their moment of triumph after the PSU win.

They aren’t even going to make the Big 10 title game.

If the defense plays like it has most of the year (sans KSU and 1st half last night), the only team that is as good is TOSU (and probably LSU now that I think about it). What happens nearly every time a Big XII team faces an SEC team in playoff or NY6 bowl? Yep. A defense that was giving up 20 now gives up 40. As a WVU fan, I’m in a good position to see how different XII offense is compared to say ACC/Big East which is/was an average conference in terms of strictly offense. The narrative has always been wrong about XII. The offenses are the BEST. It’s not poor defense in most cases. It’s because of Wild West Texas high school offensive pass happy systems where the best athletes on field play offense. Greg McElroy (from the Metroplex) has commented on this on numerous instances on his SXM morning show. And OU (and UT) get the absolute studs in these systems.

There has plenty of criticism of Pitt's second half performances this year, but that 2nd half Baylor effort was atrocious. 31 points in the first half (granted a bunch of those points were gifted to them by Oklahoma), and scoring 0 points in the second half--plus giving up 24 points.

Yeah Baylor offense did nothing in the 2nd half but they were hardly ever on the field. Everyone one of Oklahoma’s possessions were long multiple-play drives. I think in the 3rd qtr alone it was something like 33 plays to 6 because Baylor kicked off, Oklahoma had a long drive for a TD and after they kicked it off, Baylor gave it right back to them when the RB fumbled after the 30-40 yd run. Baylor only had one other possession the 3rd qtr and it was 3 n out.
