Since they were freshman they received a ton of playing time. Three years later it is very hard for a young man to adjust mentally to a reduced role. Not because you are worse but because there are more pieces on the team where you can play at reduced minutes and higher intensity.
The big three were always individuals cobbled together. It was a pass to the guy and see what they can do mentality. Its hard to take the street ball out of someone's psyche and play team sets and accept that finding the most open man is best even if you dont get your shots. They helped bridge the gap from 0-18 to moving to a team oriented focus. I appreciate them for that but we are better off long term with the change.
