Bob Bowlsby felt his conference has been unfairly punished compared to the Big Ten and Pac-12
With Penn State being left out of the playoff in favor of Ohio State, you'd think the Nittany Lions would have the biggest grudge with the outcome. After all, they won the Big Ten title and beat the Buckeyes head to head. But, no, coach James Franklin was surprisingly chill about the whole thing. Rather, it was Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby, who expressed his dissatisfaction with the decision-making and outcome of Sunday's announcement. Namely, Bowlsby had a beef with two things:

1. That No. 4 Washington was selected despite an out-of-conference strength of schedule featuring such formidable opponents as Rutgers, Idaho and Portland State.

2. That No. 3 Ohio State was able to get in without playing for, let alone winning, its conference championship.

He deserves one. But the CFP isn 't about fairness and who the best 4 teams are.
And OSU and Urban Meyer sells better than PSU, Wisconsin, and Oklahoma.

I think Oklahoma and PSU sell about even with OSU. But OSU has the media and support of the B1G commissioner. I was telling my son, if the same scenario happened in the SEC with Bama, it would have been the same outcome for Bama.

He definitely has a gripe. However, I doubt anything will come of it until they expand the playoff system. 5 P-5 Conference Title winners + 3 at large. But the 3 at large criteria needs to be clearly defined. Which of course, will not be.

For most teams, they have to win and be unblemished. Oklahoma is a storied program but you can;t lose to Ohio State and Houston and look so bad and have a gripe. I agree, Ohio State had a much better argument last year for being in the final four. But MSU won the championship and beat the bucks. So last year the conference championship mattered. They had one loss. PSU had two losses one badly and the criteria is not who was out or hurt. Michigan was ordinary at QB and his backup was below that. It cost them. You have to win. Washington did so for 11 games. They won the conference and beat a top ten team. Washington has a top coach and don;t go to sleep on them.

Yep, plus OSU had the better resume by far. Keep in mind, both OK and PSU had 2 losses and a 2-loss team has never been selected to the playoffs. The selection is about a season long resume, not 1 or 2 games.
