Amadasun's signing is ok with me. Here's a look at three years of Bigs with Capel:

Year 1 - We had Brown and Chuka, plus a useless Iggy.
Year 2 - Major Improvement. Brown, plus Hamilton, and Caloubaly.
Year 3 - Again, improvement. Brown as a sr, plus Amadasun, and Caloubaly who is
now experienced. These three plus another probable Big (Hugley?).

What that shows me is that Capel is improving the Big situation each year. I don't
have a crystal ball, but like most of us here, I expect a jump in improvement this
coming season (Capel's second).
His third year we replace a departing Hamilton with Amadasun. My sense
tells me that might be an improvement. Caloubaly now with experience, Brown as a sr.,
and IMO another Big (I hope it's Hugley). That's four Bigs.
It all fits with Capel getting it done, slowly but surely. I expect our win totals will
continue to increase, leading Capel to get even better Bigs in future years.

I agree with that assessment. I still think Brown is a reserve this year and Grad Transfers next year to start at a smaller school. I think Max is a reserve next year but will be a nice contributor his sophmore/ junior year. Seems like a Talib Zanna type -- high motor, good rebounder and solid defender. If he can pass or learn to pass from the post will be a solid 4/5 for us going forward.

I think Coulibaly and Hamilton start the year at the 4/5 with Brown backing both of them up along with Toney/ Champagnie when we go small.

Toney
Coulibaly
Hamilton is my starting 5 prediction.

Capel brick by brick is building a better program. I can't wait to see the Pete in 3 weeks. I think the facility upgrades he helped get are as big as the recruiting wins.

Good point on Hamilton maybe starting in place of Brown. I wouldn't be
surprised if that happened. When Hamilton was signed, most thought he
would be a back up to Brown. I felt nobody knew at that point and that
the Italy trip and daily practices would determine it. At this point I have
no idea, because I obviously am clueless as to what's happening at
practice. We'll know soon enough. The important point is we now have
three Bigs. We don't have to depend on Toney to rebound, and hopefully
that will free him to do other things. Capel can also play two Bigs at once
if he so chooses. He didn't have that luxury last year.
Building a better program "brick by brick"...yup, I like that.

I think Brown still starts. How much he plays is the question. There should be some improvement there.

I Really don't give Brown much of a chance to start -- Motor/Defense are the top 2 criteria for Capel. Chukwuka starting the last game of the ACC tourney last year tells me everything I need to know about Brown and Capel and where Brown stands. Brown is clearly the more talented player between Kene and Brown, but Kene may have been the biggest hustler last year on the whole team especially given how injured he was.

I think Brown will improve but I don't think he has the motor to play for Capel and that is specifically why he recruited Hamilton.

I thought Brown was sick that night and could only play limited minutes?

there’s 2 things that can be true and I believe them both. Taking an Adumson is an absolute wildcard and an absolute necessity. These long athletic types can turn out to be great and is basically our only chance of getting a pro big is by taking a chance on one

I basically agree, but only because Capel at this point in his improvement of
Pitt's basketball program leaves him with little other choice. IMO as the program
improves and develops...... better and more improved Bigs will be signed.
Hamilton was a similar signee in that he also wasn't an elite Big. A few
"wildcat" Bigs are basically what's available to us at this point. However
both Hamilton and Amadasun are both upgrades over Chuka and Brown.
That in itself tells me that Capel is on the right track. Hopefully we get
Hugley who is a four star and not a "wildcat" IMO. Capel is getting there,
slowly but surely. As another poster mentioned..."one brick at a time."

what are you basing amaduson is better than Brown? He very well might be, but Brown was at least ranked with other P6 offers to commit to.

As I said, he’s a complete wildcard, which I believe to be a good thing

Strictly opinion and nothing more. Brown's lack of motor (Capel's words) really
bothers me. Also his lack of court awareness, his inability to catch a pass and
convert, and his inabilty to give us an inside presence on both the offensive and
defensive ends...I guess that sums it up.
With that said.....Amadasun could prove to be worse than Brown, but my sense is
Amadasun is at least a physical force, better rebounder, and defender.
Anyway, just my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.

I like Brown, I still think he can contribute. There was a specific (among others) play last year where he was completely by himself under the basket. Caught the ball and could not get up to dunk it, nearest defender would not close for at least a second or two. Ended up turning the ball over. Thought to myself we have to be able to do better than this, where is the killer instinct??? Well... Coach is laying the groundwork for that.

May sound like hyperbole but this cat Collier plays with great length. He's not here to float around the perimeter.

Yes, in my opinion, Brown should be much better this year or the coaches should’ve run him out of the program. If he doesn’t then it is a major fail.

My opinion on our current recruit doesn’t matter because I’ve never seen him play. I’ll take the opinion of Major College basketball staffs and writers who have seen him and stick with their opinion that he is a high upside, low floor guy. And as I originally said, that’s what we should be going with.

Yeah, I don't get all the angst. He is a 6'10" rim protector with limited offensive game right now. Athletic and can run the court but is pretty raw. That's very similar to the guys (Bilau, Diallo, Ugboh) we were upset we didn't get last year.

I have no angst at all. He has to be better than Bilau and Ugboh who imo stink. Diallo I think is a better prospect. We never had a real shot with Diallo though Prolific Prep was never gonna let that happen.

Yep. He has the athleticism. You can't teach that piece. What he lacks are the developed hoops skills which are teachable---especially when you already have the requisite athleticism.
