While it might not seem like it I feel will be a very good test to continue to see more steps taken by this Pitt program under Jeff Capel. Boston College has lost their last 3 games they have played by 19 to Georgia Tech, by 26 to Syracuse, and they lost at Wake Forest by 18 last night. They have lost their last 3 games by an average of 21 points which tells me they are not a very good basketball team.

So there is just no excuse what so ever for Pitt to even come remotely close to losing this game at home on Wednesday to BC. They have been getting pounded as of late and if Pitt comes out and plays the way they are capable of they should do the exact same thing. Continue to take steps if you are Pitt especially at home and beat the teams at home you’re supposed to beat and BC is definitely a team on this list.

I've made a lot of money betting against BC on the road this year. Their splits are crazy: home - beat UVA by 13, Wake by 7, ND by 1....road - lose Wake by 18, lose Syracuse by 26, lose GT by 19, lose Duke by 39.

Against Wake, BC mostly hung around in the 1H before going down by 6 in the final 90 seconds. Wake started pulling away around the 15 min mark of the 2H and BC never got close. They committed a TON of fouls...I think they had 20 early in the 2H.

We need this. Absolutely need it.

This is a must win. Period. Everything else in meaningless really. I’d prefer to not have it come down to the wire as I don’t think anyone on this team has shown the ability to take over in that situation yet. But a 4 point, 10 point, 20 point win.... it’s all the same really. Pitt just absolutely has to win this game.

BC has a number of players out injured which has contributed to those last 3 big losses.

I worry about the 9PM start and dead atmosphere. But BC is really bad and Popovic is out I think.

The ND game was at ND though.

There are no gimmies with this Pitt team.

True--thinking Wake Forest game. We should be favored by high single digits (Sagarin about 7 pts) but our shooting is so erratic you never know.

Update 1/22--> Sagarin about 7 points neutral--About 10 points at the Pete due to HCA. Odds have been 11-12 because of BC's injured players out.

Without Popovic, who I think is one of the best centers in the league, BC is by far the worst team in the league. However, we arent close to the point where we can trust this team to go take care of business. We go through long stretches without scoring and dont always play with energy which is why the 9PM start scares me.

yes, and a beleaguered injured BC team is fired up and raring to go at that hour on the road so there is cause for apocalyptic concern on that aspect...

Good one! Of course anyone who frequents this site even occasionally knows that the poster you're responding to uses fear-mongering language in posts regarding Pitt on a continual basis. So the one you replied to comes as no surprise. Hard to believe someone really "worries" that much about so many things when it comes to Pitt.

This game - like any game yet to be played for ANY teams - obviously could go either way. But some posters apparently like to use ominous language. Regardless, though, those posts don't change a thing.

Im broke.
I'll be at home lol or I'd be there.

Drew you have to hit me up with your info Anthotnnys@aol.com. I have a older guy I worked with that hooks me up with 2 tickets some games. They have 4 season tickets and sometime there grandkids don't want to go or they got other sports stuff going on so he set me up with them.

Just for fun. 2 wins this week puts us "on the radar" for the NCAAT. Wouldn't even be on the "Next 4 Out list" but on the radar. If we get these 2 and win at Duke, I think we move into the First Four Out category which basically means you could get in. But a lot of season left. Would be pretty cool to win these next 2 and have the game in Durham be very meaningful for NCAAT chances.

Thanks but I'm good.
I could go if I wanted to but I'm going to chill tomorrow.
Thank you so much tho.

That would be. Just for fun’s sake though, hypothetically speaking a win at Duke might even put us in the last 4 in category for the time being. That would be a win at a top 15 Duke team, a win over a ranked Rutgers team, and a win over a top 5 FSU team.

A lot of teams in the 30-45 range would have similar records to us and off the top of my head I don’t know of any that’s 3 best wins would be that good. If we can win enough games to be on the bubble at season’s end playing FSU in the opener might be what gets us in, that was a great resume win.

It could. I'd just love to win these next 2 to set up that Duke game, which would be the most significant Pitt basketball game since Dixon.

I think if they somehow win the next 3 games which by the way I highly doubt happens and are 15-6 overall and 6-4 in the ACC with wins at Duke and at Syracuse and Florida State and a sweep of Carolina and a win versus Rutgers who is ranked now and has a high NET then I think they would be higher then a first four out at that point.

I think looking at the next 7 games which starts tonight with Boston College and ends 3 weeks from tonight when they host Clemson on February 12th overall they consist of Boston College at home, at Syracuse, at Duke, Miami at home, at Notre Dame and both Georgia Tech and Clemson at home. I think they have a chance to possibly go 5-2 or 4-3 in this stretch which would put them at either 17-8 overall and 8-6 in the ACC or 16-9 overall and 7-7 in the ACC. I still think at that point their NCCA Tournament hopes would at least still have a pulse going into mid February.

There is always an ACC tourney run possibility too. We are never technically out of it and maybe this team clicks even more later on.

At this point, all I care about is beating BC. That would give us
four ACC wins.
To me improvement each year is key. That IMO is what's going to
improve recruiting. We should be abvle to get some more wins
this year. How many?...I have no idea. Syracuse and Duke are
going to be really difficult for us. Duke is just too damn good. As
for Syracuse, they're not good this year. Unfortunately I still think
we do not know how to attack a zone and their zone is as good
as there is in college basketball.
Let's just beat BC tonight and go from there. This program is on
the rise regardless of what happens with Duke and Syracuse.

I'm seeing a spread of 11.5. Not going to bet on the game but I hope Pitt plays well enough for me to justify getting home around midnight.

Capel was also worried about noon starts and will surely reference the 9PM start time in his post-game. Great minds think alike

You got half or it right. Great minds think alike..... you got that part right.
Unfortunately your implication about the other half is as far from reality
as are most of your moranic assertions on here.

Sheesh - reading this thread almost has me excited about the possibility. I just have a hard time believing we are even close in Capel's 2nd year.

That's a very high spread. I guess Vegas is onto my special sauce of "bet against BC on the road."

I still think we handle business but 12+ is a lot.
