Breakdown of the offense

Add in my favorite action if they switch the screen which is the big guy doing a slip screen to the basket.
Disclaimer: I have coached school and AAU basketball. I am not a ACC coach making over 3 million a year. So Pitt should figure out more effective ways than I can to get the ball moving and players using screens to get closer rather than further from the basket for shots in rythmn. It would cause less dribbling into the lane for low percentage shots and less isolation 1 on 1 play. Especially because you will see this year other teams will pack the lane more until we can hits perimeter shots. And if Murphy is the only one then the defense will play a box and 1

Box and 1. OK, then what? LOL I learned a long time ago that no matter
who is getting manned up on D in a box and 1...simply put that man in
the high post (even it's a guard) and treat the box and 1 as if it's a
2-1-2 zone. Just go 1-3-1 against the box since you've now turned the
D into a 2-1-2.

You proved my point. So than we have zero 3 point shooters if they box and 1 and guard Murphy. You put Murphy at the high post? That’s laughable as Murphy with his size would be immediately trapped in the high post. It might work with JWF but no way with Murphy. It also clogs the lane even more so now no chance for X to get near the lane so X can’t do anything. That leaves only Trey as your offensive threat. And he is very inconsistent and I wouldn’t want to live or die with Trey taking outside shots all season.

Lastly and then I don’t need to continue. Based on last year we need 12 ACC wins and 23 overall wins to be top 5 in the ACC next season.

Have you ever seen what I mentioned in real time?.... I have, and I've seen it work.
I've been on the floor when the coach I mentioned used it...in fact used with both
a forward and another time with a guard. Pretty unorthodox but it worked. When I
coached later I used it.
You mentioned it "clogs the lane"...no it doesn't clog the lane any more than
when you go with a 1-3-1 offense. You've essentially forced the box and 1
into a 2-1-2 zone. You can than attack it as you would against any 2-1-2.
I have no problem with your disagreeing, but be careful when calling
something you've never seen as "laughable."
By the way, that's not the only way to beat a box and 1 obviously. I only
mentioned it because it's a bit atypical and thought I'd put out there.

Well, if YOU are guilty that means I’ve already served 25 years!!

LOL
The difference is your long posts are the post game "Dribbles."
I live too far away to see Pitt in person, (only tv). It's great to read your
"first hand" game summaries and analysis. Keep em coming!

Sure, I’m just trying to get some basketball discussion though since I “hate capel” I figured I’d try to get some compliments in on the strategy from last night. Plus, Trey is pretty good. We should still get him 1 on 1.
Any compliments on the strategy against WVU?
