The following storied rivalries have been protected under the new 20 game ACC schedule.

ND/GT
Pitt/Lou
VT/Miami
BC/ND
Clemson/FSU
GT/Clemson

These are some of the game's fiercest rivalries. When they lock up, these cities come to a standstill. The arenas are packed, the build-up to the games are intense, and the players just simply dont like each other. I mean who can forget any of those classic ND/GT games that we all grew up on. I dont know what I'd do if I knew I wasnt guaranteed to get 2 of those per year.

I so miss the Big East. The basketball is high-level in the ACC but I hate it. There was nothing like going against UConn, Georgetown, and Villanova. Does anyone remember when the St. John's team with Chris Mullen, Walter Berry, and Bill Wennington came to town? That was an amazing team.

I was a student when we played Georgetown for the first time after we joined the Big East. I was sitting in the end zone, opposite of the original zoo. Fans were throwing ice cubes directly at Patrick Ewing and it was great. There was such animosity for John Thompson.

And does anyone else remember when the Pitt fight song was played during a Villanova game...during the pause where we would normally say "Let's Go Pitt...Let's Go Pitt...P-I-T-T Let's Go Pitt," the students replaced that with "Rollie's Fat...Rollie's Fat...R-O-L-L-I-E's Fat."

And I went with friends to the Big East tournament for about 5 years in a row starting with our first BE championship. There was nothing like watching the fans from each team entering and leaving MSG and filling up their sections. The intensity of the games was unreal and just sitting in MSG on a Thursday afternoon to watch basketball was a totally righteous experience. Of course the Saturday night championship game was simply the best. IMO the BE tournament was the very best sporting event in the country each year.

So to sum it all up: I really miss the Big East.

You're not the only one.

Totally miss the Big East. I miss being able to catch us play against Seton Hall, Rutgers and St. John's here in Jersey area. And above all, I miss the Big East Tournament.

As for ACC rivals, I really wish ND was our rival instead of Louisville. Syracuse obviously makes sense.

Opening Day of March Madness is my favorite time of year. Used to be my second favorite. The Big East Tournament was easily the best time of year IMO. Sure I’m biased because we played in so many championship games under Howland and Dixon. But all those great programs meeting up in the Garden, nothing tops that.

I’m sure if Capel brings Pitt back to prominence we will all forget those days a little more with each season that Pitt is competitive. Charlotte though, Greensboro, Washington D.C..... those places aren’t the Garden. Pitt can win 10 ACC tourneys in a row with an ACC team winning the national championship in all those years, the ACC tournament will never be more than just the warm-up tournament the week before the Big Dance. To the Big East schools the Big East Tournament was much more than that.

The ACC should go to 3 divisions. Play everyone in your own division twice, the two teams in the other divisions that finished where you finished the prior year (e.g. 1's play 1's, 2's play 2's etc) for the 20 games. Having division races that make sense will mean fans will actually care about them, and what the heck, giving more teams a chance to hang a banner is not a bad thing.

My suggested divisions:
North
Pitt
Syracuse
Boston College
Virginia
Virginia Tech

Carolina
North Carolina
Duke
Wake Forest
NC State
Clemson

West
Ga Tech
Florida St
Louisville
Miami
Notre Dame

I don't really care for divisions in bball.

Did anyone really care about the Big East West division title that Pitt won?

I believe it was short lived.
