So with that in mind, Bobby Mo for 2026?Whether there is any difference in attendance between Pitt playing Duquesne vs Wofford or YSU, it certainly will generate more local attention, and frankly, is just the right thing to do.

Bobby Mo thus far hasn't been taking the get-your-head-beat-in guarantee games from power conference schools. Duquesne has been doing them. Duquesne is also more of a historic opponent and rival, a program that has finished in the AP top 10 in its history and won the Orange Bowl. But if RMU started doing those types of games, sure, it makes as much sense as scheduling Austin Peay.So with that in mind, Bobby Mo for 2026?
Not bashing the Dukes but I think the enthusiasm (and $$ in the local economy) for this game is overblown. Not sure if anyone has been to one of their home games but not a lot of attendance. Lucky if they get 2k per game. I wish we wouldn't play FCS schools at all. I'm not sure why some think this will be a bigger deal?
This is obviously anecdotal, but we have Pitt and Duquesne alums on both sides of my wife and I’s family. Since this game came out, we’ve discussed going back for a visit that Labor Day weekend and planning around this game (health permitting). Not bashing the Dukes but I think the enthusiasm (and $$ in the local economy) for this game is overblown. I guarantee your story isn't going to be an isolated one. This is obviously anecdotal, but we have Pitt and Duquesne alums on both sides of my wife and I’s family. I think the fact that there are many families divided like this will drive local interest. It obviously won’t be on the level of the Brawl or Penn State, but I can see this surpassing 50,000.

Wouldn't more national attention be better? Everyone local already knows about Pitt and Duquesne. Local attention. Ooh ah. I've heard Duquesne pronounced Do-quez-knee while out of state. It's going to get more local media coverage, just like the hoops game does. Duquesne fans are much more likely to go, just like they are way more likely to go to the Pitt hoops game. It will be a huge deal for the Dukes to play in Acrisure.
Regardless of whether there is any difference in attendance between Pitt playing Duquesne vs Wofford or Austin Peay or UMass or YSU, it certainly will generate more local attention, helps out a school down the street, and frankly, is just the right thing to do.
The play West Virginia this coming season.Bobby Mo thus far hasn't been taking the get-your-head-beat-in guarantee games from power conference schools. Duquesne has been doing them. For an FCS game? No such thing as more national attention, unless you lose. So no.Wouldn't more national attention be better? Everyone local already knows about Pitt and Duquesne. Local attention. Ooh ah. I've heard Duquesne pronounced Do-quez-knee while out of state.

This is a joke PITT should be embarrassed for scheduling this game. Narduzzi and this administration is making PITT football a MAC school.
Are people really upset with this? It was obviously going to be an FCS team, so why not Duquesne? I swear some folks just want to bitch about anything.
And yes, we should play an FCS team every single year. Just like 90% of the other P4 schools do.
I'm amused at the notion that this moves some sort of needle somehow. I'm finding the arguments for why this is a stroke of genius to be amusing. There may be practical reasons for doing it that might make some sense but in the grand scheme of things there won't be any notable bump in enthusiasm. Might be worth one extra article or feature on the evening news that will certainly come with criticism of Pitt over basket ball or something else. Are people really upset with this? It is hard to believe a 40 to 50-point blowout is going to generate any enthusiasm, but if you feel the need to buy a win, why not Duquesne.I'm amused at the notion that this moves some sort of needle somehow. There are three instances I can think of on the top of my head, although there may be more:Has there ever been another game where the away teams location is closer to the stadium then the home team?
Thank you.Miami vs Florida International
UCLA vs USC from 28-81
Thank you. I don't count number 3 so much as that is a temporary reason. I was wondering about USC vs UCLA as I don't know the lay of the land in LA.There are three instances I can think of on the top of my head, although there may be more:
- USC when they play UCLA at the Rose Bowl
- FIU when they play Miami at Hard Rock Stadium
- Rice when Houston’s TDECU Stadium was under construction when they played at Reliant Stadium in the early 2010s
The major difference being that those are all FBS matchups. There are three instances I can think of on the top of my head, although there may be more:

No, by scheduling a real opponent. For an FCS game? No such thing as more national attention, unless you lose. So no.
Not going to happen, so it is a moot point to consider. No, by scheduling a real opponent.

It does and it doesn't. I hope I'm wrong but I have a feeling there will be a thread here in the fall discussing what went south and why.I'm not sure it moves the needle, but I find it odd that people have a problem with playing Duquesne. It makes a lot of sense.
