Based on our current rating and our opponents ratings we would be favored in only 4 of our remaining 19 ACC games but favored in all 5 of our remaining OOC games.

That forecasts a 14-17 (5-15 ACC) record.

However, we do have lots of room to improve. So, if we continue to clean up and improve I am hoping we actually finish more like 17-14 (8-12 ACC) heading into the ACC tourney. HTP!

That is why I said what I said in my last sentence. It would be so nice if we won enough to make the NIT or the NCAAs. However, I don’t think our ceiling is high enough to reach an NCAA bid. The NIT could be in reach, however, IMHO.

The metaphor was intended to point out the uselessness of measuring teams against each other so early in the season. They do become better as more games are played.

That's probably a little closer to Pitt's final record this year. But playing defense like they did last night and tonight will get them over the 0.500 mark overall.

Fair enough--I know it. Just interesting to me to track as the season progresses to see if we are improving faster than our opponents and thereby predicting an increasing number of wins for the season.

Where do you get your information to predict an accurate record THIS year. Humbug.

It's all speculation, nothing more. I'm going by what I've seen from this program over the past 50+ years and what I'm seeing now. This team as they are playing now is capable of a record of 0.500 or a little better, with a little luck. That's all I'm saying.

You didn't see the improved defense that Pitt is playing this year, especially the last 2 games? Maybe you're watching a different game or don't know what you're seeing. This team is gradually improving defensively and in rebounding, game by game. That is the cornerstone of a winning team.
