Was 13-17 for 157 yards compared to Pickett’s 10-14 for 125 yards. Could Beville possibly be in the running for a starting job?

If Pickett gets hurt or when he graduates yea, Pickett is locked atm I think
As I said when I saw his HS film he has a much higher upside. Pickett is going to have to continue to improve to hold on to the job. Pickett clearly is in the drivers seat but he can’t afford to play as poorly as he did last year There are two viable alternatives behind him in Beville and even Patti
Beville’s size screams pro-style too. He seems like he can be a great QB if he can refine his game. He’s still an underclassman though
Beville is going to be really really good in time. But if you follow all of the spring reports Beville has been inconsistent like most young QB’s and thrown a number of picks in other practices & scrimmages. You can’t just go off one day. But seems both him & KP had nice days. Looks like KP also had 2 TD passes and Beville had 1.
Right now our OC would tell you there is no competition and KP is clear #1. Next year at this time could be a different story.
No doubt he has the most upside. In time I believe he will be the real deal. Up to this point (keep in mind at least 2 other scrimmages) Patti has outplayed him and is 2nd team according to our OC & PN. But Beville has a bright future.
True you never know. But for every Lawrence the next 100 kids play like normal true freshman. And believe me I’m as high on Beville as anyone, see my posts when he signed.
I agree. My only point is KP has two guys who could legitimately start and IMO are better overall QBs. I think both tend to see the field better, have more pocket presence and don’t stare down receivers as much as KP. KP will have to earn the position because I think both Patti and Beville will push him. beville has the highest upside and Patti has a year in the program.
Either way it’s good know their are legit options behind KP if he doesn’t improve The other thing is I think they will use KPs legs a bit more knowing the have two guys who can step in if he gets hurt Really looking forward to seeing the offense this year
I also agree that next year Beville could be a serious contender for the starting job. The kid is fairly mobile too
Good points. It’s nice that if KP goes down or is not playing well Pitt seems to have 2 legit options. KP has a lot to prove and our OC is not married to him. The OC said something interesting about KP a few weeks back...basically he is a rare player who takes the game too seriously. Said he has the tools and his job as OC is to get KP to relax and have fun.
At the end of the day Beville has by far the most talent IMO and has a shot to be big time (in due time). Has height, a big arm, is accurate and can move well as you said. All he needs is experience (still should be in HS) and adding a few pounds will help him taking hits.
Davis will redshirt... I did talk with one of the coaches and said Davis is special as in very good.

Let him mature, put on some weight. He's got talent, we all know that now. Redshirt him and he's your future.
If this young man adds 15 to 20 pounds of muscle to his frame he'll be fine. His arm is strong enough to make all of the throws necessary right now. Just curious is to how Duzz got a kid like this to commit to Pitt and PC couldn't. PC was all about the offense.
Coming off the year Pickett had in a poor offensive scheme, I think the coaches are trying to build back Pickett’s confidence in hopes that he rebounds in the Whipple offense. Hence, telling him it is his job to lose.
That said, with the current redshirt rules, if the offense sputters late in the season, and they find themselves in contention for the coastal, I wouldn’t be surprised if Beville gets the nod.

It should be a true competition, if Beville out plays him, he should be the guy. Who cares how old he is
KP will have a good year. I think we’ll get real good qb play this year.
If Beville gets the nod late in the season, 2019 went to hell. Be careful what you wish for.
