Diaz Graham twins ready for action with National Team Spain at Euro Championships

Rivals still has him unrated (zero stars) while his brother, Jorge, (who didn't make the cut for Spain's U-20 team) at 3-stars. They need a serious star rating update on Guillermo.
I think we’re too late in the cycle for that. Rivals did their final rankings update for the class of 2022 a few months ago.

What’s the difference at this point? Stars don’t matter once they step foot on college campus. Let these kids have the chip on their shoulder and hopefully surprise some people

Did you get to watch any of his FIBA games? If so, thoughts?

I'm more optimistic of both them contributing this year than what I saw at IMG.

I did not I have been busy as hell moving. I wouldn’t put too much stock into it or expect them to play much at the 5. Hugley needs to eat up 30 mins again. And the FIBA game is so different and fits their games well. It will be interesting to see how they fit in. Think they need a year of strength to really contribute in the ACC

Agree about not seeing either much at the 5 this season--they do need more strength and weight. I do see the possibility of one (or both sharing) significant (~20+ minutes?) PT as 3/4 forwards since they are mobile, can shoot the jumper, and handle very very well for guys that tall. IMHO, they potentially offer enough threat driving to the hoop and pulling up to shoot the short to medium range jumper that it could make it less likely that when one of them is on the floor that Hugley sees all the double teams on the low blocks he did last season since opponents won't want to leave either one of these guys wide open to double Hugley.

I watched some of him at Fiba but was limited with the peach jam going on.

Great motor, good hands catching the ball, better than expected defender including help defense and plays more physical than you would think. Constantly hustles in the transition game and never gives up on plays. Good passing ability for his size, showed some finishing ability in the low post with limited action.

Good sealing his man and boxing out players, but below average rebounder. He gets his hands on rebounds, but struggles to pull them in which results in a lot of loose balls. I think he showed enough that he should be able to hold his own this year without getting the team killed at either the 4 or 5 and showed that he can contribute in multiple areas. He is not close to a 3 right now and we need good rebounders with him if he plays the 5. Has some Levon Kendall in him and does a lot of little things including decent screen setting etc.. Im going to repeat that I like his motor.

Guillermo did ok verses a pretty thick and strong 7'3" C with ball skills.

Definitely needs more strength but he compensates now with active feet.

Saw the same in the FIBA videos I watched. IMHO, this is a strength issue-- fixable in time by the weight room and maturation. For the coming season, IMO, he needs to compliment Hugley--letting Hugley provide the rebounding muscles and be the guy who takes the defensive pressure off of Hugley at the offensive end and cleans up loose stuff that Hugley doesn't get at the defensive end as a secondary rebounder where his strength is less important than his ability to be in the right rebounding position.

I don’t see either of them ever playing the 3. I think they’d get eaten alive by ACC 3’s

Jorge is more athletic and mobile. He will be mostly a 4 and possibly a big3 imo. I think he can get away with playing the 3 because of his length.

I could see it against some super big lineups in the ACC, but considering most ACC lineups look a lot more like ours, with a guy like Burton playing the 3, I think Jorge would really struggle defending against guys like that. I think he could be a really, really solid 4 in this conference.

I think we could have a line up in at times that is better suited for zone

Hence a remark I made a while back that Jim Boeheim would love our new roster!

In any event, a big part of successful coaching is suiting style of play to fit your roster rather than the opposite. If this season turns out to be another failure it could be due to coach not thinking outside the box and attempting to play a style not best suited to the roster.
