Fan board after fan board includes ample criticism of PItt's administration and their bungling of athletics through the years.

The criticism is particularly sharp now. Does Gallagher care? Does Lyke have a clue? Did she set the ridiculous ticket prices for a team almost guaranteed to end the season with a losing record?

Do the trustees realize they are universally despised? Certainly poor attendance in revenue sports has to be recognized.

Well, Lyke didn't "set" the prices. They remained the same as last year. I am sure she delegated those decisions but in the end, its on her. Im sure the thought was that they sold 7K or so last year and they added WVU so by keeping the price the same, they could sell a similar amount. They badly overestimated the value of the WVU game. And badly underestimated the fans' frustration with Stallings and the program overall.

No, they don't. There is a huge gulf between the emphasis that Pitt puts on athletics versus what some other places do, but that doesn't mean that those places think that athletics is the most important thing at the University, like you do.

Go take a headcount on people in the stands...the only thing you can actually do. No one is arguing that academics should come before athletics but that doesn't mean you can completely discount/ignore mismanagement and lack of commitment to athletics, which have been Pitt's problems. Go take another headcount..when you run put of fingers and toes, start over.

It does when people think that the athletic departments success defines the university as a whole and that that should be the focus of the BOT and chancellor . I’ll agree that they are inept at running a winning profitable athletic department .

I think it would be valid to say the BOT is despised in the importance they place on sports, by people that want them to be good at sports. I think that's fair to say. Most sports minded people, I'm sure agree that the Pitt admin doesn't really care a whole lot of being highly competitive in sports.
