The prices of foreign cars are set to rise substantially soon with the tariffs. Trump doesn't understand supply and demand, big surprise. He said he hopes prices will go up because Americans will buy American cars. The problem is when foreign car prices rise, the demand for domestic cars will rise and that will cause more price competition between the domestic car manufacturers, eventually leading to the price of domestic cars coming close to the increased price of foreign cars.

It's fair to be pro-tariff as a long-term goal. That can be debated. But there is no debate that tariffs raise prices on the affected products in the short-run.

Guess which car company won't be impacted by tariffs? Not that it will matter.

As an aside, Peter Navarro was on today saying that they will collect $600 billion a year in new taxes from the tariffs. This would be the biggest tax hike in history... and it still won't cover the new billionaire tax cut.
