Capel is soft. Teams are a reflection of their coach.
Lets not go there. We lost on the road to Duke. Even though they arent that good, its still an NCAAT team

I thought the same thing about that shot early in the 2nd half. It was the best ball movement we had all night and he was so open and bricked it. He seems to never hit a shot if we really need it.Elliott missed 2 really big 3s. Early in the 2nd Half, he missed a wide open 3 to put us up 13 and I thought it was over.
It’s not not just that -Isolation game by Burton works until you run up against a good defensive team
They aren’t greatIt absolutely WAS ridiculous to lose that game
It’s going to hurt worse when we see Duke is actually mediocre to bad in future games
Oh just wait
This is trueScheyer made adjustments at the half, this time Jeff didn’t account for them. Is this not a 21 point swing at this point?
SameYou know what, I yelled F**K out loud because I know we are the better team and literally gave that one away. Ridiculous to lose that basketball game tonight, ridiculous. Yes, it bothers me more than most to have ever put on gold and blue (different sport), but that was ridiculous to lose that game tonight.
You need to win 110%or more of the game when playing Duke especially on the road. It’s like playing at Notre Dame. Visiting team just need to accept that and step it up and overcome it. You simply have to play far better than you usually do, not merely play well. Certainly just can’t play ok.I am beyond disbelief they found a way to lose this one. I know we actually have the better team. Good grief!
Duke is not typical Duke for sure. That said, they had a huge advantage inside with their size and they exploited it by continually going in there against our weaklings and crushing them on the boards. A mobile and able bodied Hugley would have helped substantially, but he is not ready. Duke will probably wind up between 3 and 6 in the league this year. They just proved to be a bad match up for us.It absolutely WAS ridiculous to lose that game

This is exactly what I going to say. Unless you are wearing your blue and gold colored glasses, I do not see how you can watch this and say we are the better team. There is a big deficiency with the frontcourt. I like what Fede brings but it's not enough. I like Nelly Cummings but we trot him out at 5'11" and Duke trots out guards that are so much longer. Yeah with a couple breaks we could have won the game, but I am just not seeing us as the "better" team; if anything, I see us as the slightly lesser team.Duke is not typical Duke for sure. I politely disagree. We lost, but this is s a team we should have beat. We actually had better matchups if we would have continued what we did in the first half. The issue is Scheyer made adjustments and Capel did not alter the offense. We should have won this game, no excuses.Duke is not typical Duke for sure. He’s doneAnd where the hell is John Hugley at this point?
He was the only guy trying much of last year

I agree we have a good gritty team, but this is no longer the circa early 2000s Big East. I think on a neutral court Duke beats us 6 out of 10 times -- which isn't too shabby and an improvement from previous years where I'd say they would beat us 8 out of 10 times (if not more).Duke is more talented -
But if we play 10 times on a neutral court I honestly think pitt wins 6 of those games

It is theoretically easier to score when you are closer to the basket, unless maybe you are Steph Curry. Duke was able to get there at will, they also easily outmuscled our weaklings for all the rebounds. We on the other hand, have no inside game, unless our guards can beat their man. Duke took that away in the 2nd half by bringing their length away from the hoop and shutting off the lane. All we could do without a low post game is throw up forced jumpers. What did you want Capel to do?? If you can't drive and have no one in the low post to go to, what choice do you have but to jack up jumpers??I politely disagree.
