Expansion rumor: UConn to the Big East???

Just some rumors on Twitter right now so who knows. It would seem to make sense though. The American is a terrible basketball league and would going independent in football be any worse than playing football in The American? The Big East does have 1 non-Catholic school in Butler, but no publics.

I know the Big East doesn't want anything to do with anything relating to football and doesn't want to be a holding spot for UConn until something better comes along but I think both leagues need each other. They should make it happen. Maybe then they can hang on to MSG

Total nonsense. UConn is committed to football, and there is nowhere for them to park their football program if they go to the Big East. They would like for their football to become solid enough that they would be an attractive target if there is another upheaval. Going independent in football would be a disaster. Who is going to play them after everyone is into their conference schedule? This is the dream of BE fans, who are nervous after the dreadful postseason performance of the last 2 years.

Looks like this is related to UConn starting up a men's lacrosse team. The AAC doesn't have lacrosse, so UConn will need a home for it. They're also talking to the B1G, and that is where they'd like to end up, for many reasons.
