Fearless prediction....

Always hard to predict. I think most thought UCLA was headed back to dominance with Ben Howland after 3 straight final 4’s. But after that they trended downward for 5 or so years and he was gone.

Yeah that was weird.

UCLA recruiting about to take off.

UCLA is an interesting case. They definitely underperformed their talent through regular season but figure it out late.

UCLA has 3 top 50 prospects, Baylor has 0, Houston has 1, and Gonzaga has 4.

As for top 100, UCLA has 7, Baylor has 5, Houston has 3, and Gonzaga has 9.

UCLA backed themselves into a corner with that Under Amour contract. One of the all time worst brand contracts in sports

If you don't recruit top 15 to 20 classes in either sport , you are what Pitt has now , afterthought. We are a joke in both sports to the rest of the college world. Truth hurts. Another fact, administration doesn't give two shits if we win or not as long as we make a crap bowl and get As in classes , EGGHEADS RUN SPORTS AT PITT, they are fine with mediocrity. A few on this board and myself made 10 hour round-trip drives 5 to 10 basketball games and all home games each year , easier just to turn off TV and be home instantly. I WAS A DIEHARD FOR 40 YEARS PLUS

Pitt will never recruit top 15-20 classes regularly in either sport, NEVER. It doesn't matter who the coaches are, who the AD is, or who the Chancellor is.

Instead of constantly being negative about everything Pitt, try to understand that what you think should be happening, is never going to happen for about 50 different reasons.

Just forget about it, or find something else to do rather than troll message boards.

I just checked UCLA’s 21 and 22 classes. Looks like they were already doing pretty damned well for themselves before this tournament ever tipped off. 2 5 stars and a 4 in the 21 class, already have a national top 5 commit for 22. Also will become a highly desirable destination for top end transfers-like Juzang was. Watch that 22 class fill out now.

I agree with you that we will not see top 15-20 classes regularly. I'm in my mid 60s and the way I look at it is that I have been very fortunate to have seen the likes of Billy Knight, Tony Dorsett, Marino, Green and then all those great bball games under early Evans and most of Dixon. But what are some of the top reasons in your 50 that it won't happen? Not trying to be a jagoff just want to see if your reasons are the same as mine.

Here a few, the first two being the biggest because they drive many of the others

Donor support
Fan support
Recruiting footprint
Recruiting competition
Willingness to get hands dirty
Facilities
Lack of historical success
Won't place sports ahead of school / academics
Location / Weather
Women /Coeds

If you're realistic, Pitt's absolute top possible consistent finish in ACC recruiting is 4th and maybe even 5th. Would be the same in the B12 or Pac12, same or worse in the B10, and definitely worse in the SEC. There's now way in hell Pitt is ever going to be consistently in the top 15-20 recruiting in FB or BB. That's a pipe dream and totally unrealistic expectation.
