Fire Capel, bring back Jamie

She's the exact opposite of Capel. Instead of resorting to nepotism and giving her brother a cushy job he sucks at, she actually killed her brother.

Starters are gassed. Plays these guys way too long. Catches up every February with a collapse.

The best strength and conditioning program in the world couldn’t help us out
Starters are gassed because Capel is moron who should have been using his bench better all year long. If you don’t play defense and hustle, then you don’t play should be rule number one.

I disagree. If these guys had been training all offseason, then they’d be bigger, stronger, and have more stamina.

Even if it’s an entirely different administration than the one that “encouraged” him to leave in 2016, why would he want to return when he has a lifetime job at his alma mater?

Jamie would never come back to Pitt regardless of the administration or money. But for Pitt to become even barely competitive again, we're going to need a coach of that caliber to get them going and kick some sense into them. This team is as soft as a S'mores right now. They're weak and completely unprepared every game, as if they didn't practice before the game. Which is probably pretty accurate.

Pitt had great February's the prior two seasons. Before that, yeah. We'd fade like this year.

Why wouldn't Capel play Kante or Deliac at all?
His substitutions are puzzling at best. After not getting any minutes for several games he brings in the other stick twin for a few minutes in the first half. Kid didn’t do much but he also didn’t screw up. Then he yanks him and he’s glued to the pine again

Agree he's not coming back, but man could he coach. Really miss a well coached team.

Leggett's last layup miss exemplified this. Being there really showed how gassed several players were.
I'm sure many of you, including me, have said, "Legs, let's go," but the legs say, "No!"

Pitt will do worse.

I hope not, but suspect they will. And everyone will cheer a new hire and say he has a great pedigree and is capable of coaching us to the top of the ACC. By everyone, I mean the brass at Pitt and a certain few Pitt fans who have blinders on.

Pitt was able to resurrect their basketball program before from worse depths than we are currently in when we hired Howland. Of course, he had a great group of assistants. We can do that again but it will take a complete housecleaning, top to bottom and an AD who knows what to look for. And now with the NIL nonsense, the new coach will need money. I'm not sure any of that will take place this time around.

Pitt will do worse.

Jerrod Calhoun is a guaranteed winner if they can get him. Has won at 3 levels. The only way he wouldn't win here is if he got really unlucky with injuries or if we had severely limited NIL. NIL hasn't been an issue here. We don't pay SEC money but this is a well-paid team, one of the higher payrolls in the ACC.

If this is one of the higher paid ACC teams then things are even worse than they appear. Not sure how anyone knows that however.

I'd have to see some figures from the ACC on your claim that we are one of the higher payrolls. That's suspect.

How do you know this?

Common sense

1. Duke
2. Miami
3. Lou/Clem
4. Lou/Clem

We are probably 5th based on expenditures for Lowe, Leggett, Corhen, Austin

Who do you think is paying more?

- Syracuse: maybe. Starling, Lampkin, the injured FR

- SMU: just paid Miller

- Wake: lost Miller and Carr due to pay

- NC St: maybe

- GT, VT, Cal, Stan, ND, UVa - no

So basically you don’t know.

You mean like TCU?
I mean, they’ve made the tourney 4 of 9 years there and won the NIT in the other. At a place like TCU with even LESS history than Pitt that’s pretty good.

And no not even I want Dixon back…the answer was to never let the door open for him to leave in the first place. The answer was to give him full commitment to retool. Not sure how many tourneys we get but I think 5 of 9 wouldn’t exactly be a stretch in this timeframe.
