Kidding of course. But definitely not his best coaching job in this game sheesh. Team looks totally unprepared and disinterested tonight. Also Capel needs to change up the strategy moving forward. Having Xavier and Trey taking on the whole team by driving to the hoop hoping for a foul call isn't working anymore. Coach Capel and his assistants need to realize that and change things up.

This is what happens when you take a team that's already desperately short on depth and remove one of the better players. Toney isn't always consistent offensively, but his defensive presence is sorely missed.

Good point but c'mon, we shouldn't be losing by almost 30 at the half against a 1-5 Clemson team - even missing Toney.

Would you prefer to see Ellison taking more shots??? How about N'dir missing more free throws??? Maybe Capel can borrow some of Clemson's walkons for the second half

Oh coach wooden. Pray feel what would you do differently ?

You do realize the cupboard is bare with the exception of X and trey and Toney and Toney is kit tonite

I knew our crappy fan base would turn on Capel at the first sign of problems.

This fan base doesn’t deserve much better than stalllings

Bro relax man I said I was kidding obv. I don't want Capel fired lol. But he isn't above criticism. I would like for them to start setting more screens for JWF to shoot. He's the only one lately that can make a basket.

Unfortunately there aren’t any other viable options given the roster he has to work with thanks to Barnes and Stallings.

Stallings took a mediocre inherited roster and not only failed to improve it; but blew it up so badly he made things unimaginably worse!

The surprising W’s over Louisville and FSU got folks a little too excited . It was only a matter of time before the word was out on how to defend Pitt . No inside game no perimeter game just three quick guys who drive to the hoop who won’t stop an try a jumper . JC needs two more recruiting classes ther was bound to be bad losses .

Johnson is our top scorer with 11 at the half and Johnson is shooting 60% tonight. Its not a freshmen collapse. Its a chuk and Ellison quit playing before tipoff. It wasnt Mcgowens best half by a long shot. But we are trying to bank on freshmen carrying us to wins every game. Clemson, like us, opened with a really hard acc schedule. They are alot better than Wake Forest, Miami, and Notre Dame.

Again how about Capel coaching them to do something different other than drive to the hoop and try to take on 4 players?

Well, I look at it this way. Capel figured out the only way this team could score points and it worked for the most part for the first 17 games. Big credit to him for that, and even bigger credit for finding a way to win two league games. But then, a league full of Hall of Fame and/or rising superstar coaches (Chris Mack, for example) started taking Pitt serious and learned how to take away the one way this team can score and win (X and Trey driving the lane). That combined with an absolutely brutal first 8-9 game ACC schedule and I suppose we shouldn’t be surprised.

It's basketball. A great recruiter can restock the roster in one year.

They realize it and the change will come with better players that the guards can involve in the game. And I hate to call out a kid but Ellison is practically worthless and should get his degree and move on.

Some of us have been saying that all year.
A number of posters started with the post season nonsense after those
upsets. Teams don't even have to go to a zone to force us into a perimeter
game. They now know our strengths and weaknesses, and our tendencies.
We're deep into the ACC schedule now. Clemson was hot last night, but
the talent difference is so great. The three freshmen who are prone to
mistakes can somtimes overperform....key word here, sometimes. Our
hustle and work effort can sometimes make the difference; again...sometimes.
We may have sucked last night, but I like where we are. Capel will get them to
bounce back. I also expect him to recruit the help that we so badly need.

You 'kid' too much!

Or at least in two. Stallings clearly wasn't even a mediocre recruiter. All he needed in year #1 was to land an adequate point guard to be able to repeat or approximate Dixon's final season results--that is assuming for the sake of argument that he could handle the Xs and Os well enough. Then he should have been able to ride that modest success well enough to recruit a number of ACC quality freshmen and retain Cam Johnson. That was what he was expected to be able to do--plateau the program and then build it up from there. Instead, he failed open.

This isn't about Stallings. He's been thrown to the scrap heap. This is about Capel. ...and the issues may be deeper, as Pitt seems to be shifting on a lot if recruits since moving to the ACC.

Is Keatts or Buzz Williams a cooler dude or more sincere guy than JC ? Think JC can’t charm the pants off someone . He’s not a hall of fame center like Ewing , but when Pitt keeps coming up short it’s not just the coach in this case .
