The program seems to be on solid footing. I'm more excited for next season than I've been in a long time. The young guys looked good out there.
Won in spite of FCJ…some horrid, horrid calls when the game could be iced… but great win nonetheless.
The players won this game. And by players I mean many backups who shined when called upon. This win is one of my favorites all time watching Pitt football.
Come on man. Cignetti’s offense scored 37 with a backup QB, RB and shuffled OL. His offense looked good today with a QB that could move.
I think Slovis hampered Cignetti’s play calling, this year.

The players won this game despite some awful coaching at the end. But the fact that they don't give up ever is a direct reflection on our head coach. He might not be the best game day manager but his kids play hard and he deserves all the credit for it. Congrats on his first win in a first tier bowl against a power conference opponent

Good post. He (and his OC) are…questionable to be kind… with their X, O’s, play calls, clock management, etc but the team does play hard start to finish.
They are deranged idiots. No sense in paying any attention to them.

Someone posted earlier we were third in the acc in yards per completion too. I literally have never been on this board and have someone like our OC. Every year it’s the same thing.
Having 10 guys on the field after a time out is inexcusable, especially in a late-game situation.
Seriously? There was an easy TD pass that was dropped. And FCJ doesn't decide whether to kick a FG or not. FCJ didn't give up a 50 yard run to a team with no timeouts. That was a helluva job to get in FG range with no timeouts in barely over 30 seconds.
Cigs has become a popular whipping boy, lots of time when it isn't warranted. He didn't have a lot to work with today and his offense put up 37 points - 445 yds and clawed out a win.

5 game winning streak. Not many teams in the country can say that. I think FSU is tops in the ACC with 6.
I wasn't thrilled with the Cignetti hire but he called a good game today for the players he had to work with. A mobile QB makes ALOT of difference. Now let's go get some transfers. H2P
Correct. People can feel however they’d like overall but Cignetti deserves credit for today. That 4th and 1 from the shotgun was a head scratcher but I doubt anyone anywhere coaches a perfect game.
Cignetti called a good game today Duzz had the team ready to play with all the opt outs. The team plays hard for the coach and he has built a great culture. They are a physical team. Give credit to the coaches and players to come back like that against a good team they play with heart just like their coach.
I totally agree with you about mobile QBs. That's absolutely essential in today's game.
Minchey has mobility. All 3 of the QBs coming in since Minchey bailed are mobile. Ty Dieffenbach at least appeared to be fairly mobile going by his highlight tape. I certainly hope they recruit mobile QBs going forward.
It was definitely a good game for Cigs, but at the same time UCLA is one of the worst defenses in college football and 10 of Cig's points came on drives that started in the red zone.
But that's still 100% conversion and Pitt had 6 drives over 40 yards. Most importantly they did enough to win and finish the season strong.
Cig called some things well.
But he should have been tazed for botching the 1st and goal situation, and then later the 4th and 1, with calls only drooling retards could have applauded.
If it was Duz that made the call to forego the easy FGs in those situations, only to approve the clearly imbecilic play calls Cig made on those fourth downs, turn the taser on him next.
And the blown timeouts… oy vey
I’m glad we miraculously won (and it took 3 miraculous plays on that final possession, by Wayne, Means and Patti) but the coaches did no favors with their moronic decisions that blew the lead and forced that nearly impossible situation in the first place.
No doubt, UCLA's defense isn't very good. But we trotted out a 4th year QB that had only 1 career passing TD against P5 competition and our only home run threat, Izzy, was an opt-out. I wasn't optimistic going into the game today, and tbh, I thought the chances were pretty good of the game getting out of hand. The offense, and team as a whole was very resilient today.
Which begs the question: why didn't he give that mobile qb an opportunity to play during the season?
I agree 100% on the Narduzzi portion, not so much on the other half. That being said, I will admit that the offense I saw today on the field looked a whole lot different to me then the one I saw for most of the season.
Also, just like Walt Harris, Pat Narduzzi came into the Pitt football program at a time where things were starting to spiral out of control. Both of them did great jobs and brought stability back to the Pitt program.
Nice job today by the entire Pitt football team.
or did cignett's play calling hamper Slovis. Really interested to see how Slovis does in the BYU offense next year.
