The funny part about this thread is people rationalizing that William Jeffress is out as if he would be the difference maker.
Shoot, I hate to say it but he might have to play 35 MPG the way this team defends
What Jeffress needs to bring to the table this year is being the guy in the right place at the right time and doing the little things that don’t always show up in the box score . Expecting him to be an offensive asset upon past performances is expecting way too much . Five six pts a game not much more , but every team needs that guy . Unfortunately based on tonight’s performance they’re going to need much more than that .
None of us has seen what Dior J was going to add , but so far Nelly doesn’t appear to be an upgrade. Maybe he’s trying to hard , but the troubling thing is that he’s not an inexperienced player . Pitt needs him to step it up .

How any were expecting anything more than brutal again this yr was beyond me. Especially after Dior.
You can’t have your pg making silly fouls and have more turnovers than assists . Let’s hope he settles in because if he doesn’t Pitts season will be bad .
I don't want to take an unnecessary shot at Jeffress here, but you know you're getting pretty desperate when you point to his absence as having any determinative significance in a 25-point loss.
With Hugley out you simply cannot try to play almost the last ten minutes of the first half with both Burton and Hinson on the bench, and then compound that by sitting Federico for the last six plus.
It was 26-26 shortly after Burton was taken out, and from there we got outscored the rest of the half 21-10. We are not good enough to play that long without those two guys on the court against a decent team, and it was that much worse when we made it three guys.
And yeah, Cummings did make it so that Burton had to come in for the last 40-ish seconds by committing a stupid foul. But the point is that there was almost no way that strategy was going to work, and that was were we lost any hope of a competitive game.
