so very true unfortunately. It's a shame Wanny really had things setup to dominate that crap conference but let the likes of UCONN & Cinci pass him up. 2008 also should have been a great season, but losses to Rutgers & Bowling Green pretty much killed it. 2004 & 2018 are about as ugly as a "championship" season could be. I think we are the only division champ in the modern era to finish a season with 7 losses.

Although I wouldn't say there have been any horrible seasons since 1998. Just mind numbing mediocrity year after year.

I think the BE wasn't as bad as many make it out to be. Back then UConn and Cincy were as good of teams as any outside the top 7 or 8.

I agree there hasn't been a horrible season since 98 but the no matter what you think of it being the right time to let Wanny go, you must admit it was horrible execution. During a time when Pitt could have made big strides.

I loved that era of PITT football and I don't care if the Golden Panthers had a huge impact, it sire beats the past 20 years.
