on the uncommitted guys it would be nice to close on hamlin and hudson. i know i know, we never get guys from hudson's hs. it might not happen but i thinks he's a player.

on sanders, it would be sweet if we could flip him. they have recruited pretty well at the rb position and look to be favorites on the swift kid next year who will probably be the top rb in the state and a national recruit. i doubt the flip will happen but it would be a major recruiting win for us.

Is Hudson one of those tweener players? I haven't seen him play and I will never be one of those fans that put down a recruit just because he doesn't like my school.. Just curious, some have him as a safety and some project him as an olb. I like the idea of a 210 pound hard hitting safety much more than I like the sound of a 210 pound olb. I know recruits put on a lot of weight over their first few years in college but it's kind of nice to get a linebacker that doesn't need to put on 30 pounds.. We have two now, that im very high on but are at least 20 pounds if not more, from being effective, every down type of linebackers..

Pgh, you raise a good question, he might end up being a tweener but I doubt it. He brings good versatility, some coaches are recruiting him for defense and some are recruiting him for offense. Take a look at his offer sheet, not to shabby. A lot of coaches think he's a player.

I think we get Pugh.

"Tweeners" are useful against spread offenses...

Go Pitt.

Hope we land Gilbert too.

Definitely. That's how teams like Baylor, TCU, and most of the BIG12 have done so well in the past couple years.
They've done so well as you put it by running innovative offenses designed to maximize the number of offensive plays they run per game. Simple statistical fact that the more offensive snaps you have the more scoring you will do. Defense is an afterthought to those teams, a necessary evil. The defenses themselves are geared to stop similar fast, spread type offenses so they naturally have some smaller, quicker players. But again, the success of the TCUs and Baylors is not based on strong defense.

Not sure how you conclude that "tweener" type personnel have much to do with those teams' successes, or what the examples of those types of players would be.

There were several mentions by coaches such as Briles at Baylor, Helfrich at Oregon, etc. all saying they recruit QBs who were multiple in their ability to play at the WR, Safety, or DB positions. Having players who are considered "tweeners" which can play multiple positions based on their size and athleticism can create issues for the opposition given the right schemes. On the other hand, these teams sometimes have issues with bigger, more physical teams like Alabama and O$U.

No doubt. Wasn't it Pugh who said that he and Gilbert would like to play at the same school. I think that's right, but I might be mistaken Pugh with someone else.
