of course, then the tomlin apologists can blame others for giving mediocre mike a poor roster to work with..We all know who is in charge but the apologists love to defend mediocrity.

You know they don't negotiate during the season. So that's not an option.I’d wait to mid season
We don’t have a single qb and only Warren at RB
Fixed - and herein lies the problem. Mahomes couldn't make this offense better.Bye then
SomeoneAnyone else can also have the Steelers offense scoring less than 20 just like he did.
The steelers should get max value for any player that isn't young with upside if possible. They have a lot of guys that are getting paid and are aging and/or underperforming. Get what you can for those guys and build your roster from the trenches out. Fields is fine
Problem is there aren't many guys who both make sense to move and would bring anything back. The list is pretty much just Watt. Heyward is too old at this point. And I'm pretty sure they owe Minkah a bunch of guaranteed money so they might as well just keep him at this point.
Here’s some food for thought: Abdul Carter had a medical concern pop up at the Combine. Let’s say he slides on Draft Night… do you look for him at #21 and then shop TJ Watt? I think you could shop Watt regardless with Highsmith and Herbig, but Carter would likely be the BPA.
Fields is the QB they're going to sign. Just a question of how much they overpay for him.
Steelers aren't in a position to acquire someone who can do things well a QB in the Steelers offense. They don't have the cap space to sign a quality veteran, even if there was one out there to sign. They also don't have anything on that offense that makes it attractive to a good QB. They don't have the fortitude or the capital to make a bold move in the draft if there was a QB that made sense to pursue that way. They're sort of up the creek so Fields is likely the best option that will be affordable enough to lock up for a few years while they try to figure something out. Of course, they're not looking at it this way because they're still convinced they can win, now, but will assess Fields as the best option for winning.

Fields will insure the stillers will not be completing for anything. The rest of thoughts are 100% spot on.
Who makes the decisions regarding the HC contract ?We all know who is in charge but the apologists love to defend mediocrity.
Of course he couldFixed - and herein lies the problem. Mahomes couldn't make this offense better.
Ahh, look! An apologist.Who makes the decisions regarding the HC contract ?
Simple question
Because that’s the person who’s actually in charge .
When you are unable to answer that question-Ahh, look! An apologist.
Rooney is making zero roster management or draft decisions, ZERO. Rooney has his warts, many of them but to blame the roster or drafts or FA signings on him is beyond ridiculous.Ahh, look! An apologist.
Yeah I have - and it's leaps and bounds better than the Steelers.Of course he could
Have you seen the dearth of talent on their offense as aside from him ?
So-Rooney is making zero roster management or draft decisions, ZERO. Rooney has his warts, many of them but to blame the roster or drafts or FA signings on him is beyond ridiculous.
Most of us realize that but there will always be those who think they're clever.Rooney is making zero roster management or draft decisions, ZERO. Rooney has his warts, many of them but to blame the roster or drafts or FA signings on him is beyond ridiculous.
I think you don't understand that regardless of Rooney's decision making, the poor decision making still comes from Tomlin and the rest of the people who are hired to actually run the club. Ineffective ownership isn't necessarily the root cause of poor football performance because the Rooney's being "cheap" isn't new.So-
I’ll ask again -
Who hires and fires the GM and HC ?
I get to some of you - the buck stops nowhere .
So- who gave the HC this much control ?Most of us realize that but there will always be those who think they're clever.
HC still sucks. That's the discussion that's being had. Try to keep up.So- who gave the HC this much control ?
Who extended him ?
Who will ultimately replace the HC ?
yes, i blame rooney for his giving into nonsense exterior pressures to not move on from Tomlin, we all know why so we'll leave it at that..So-

So you don’t believe Art Rooney when he explicitly said adding additional coaches aren’t necessary?!yes, i blame rooney for his giving into nonsense exterior pressures to not move on from Tomlin, we all know why so we'll leave it at that..
Tomlin has 100% free reign on hiring asst coaches so his absolute failure of coaches that produced not one branch on the tomlin tree is on Tomlin..
I believe Colbert had influence on drafts and rosters before he retired but khan the accountant was an internal promotion because bringing in someone from outside of the organization at GM wouldnt have worked due to Tomlin having control. No GM worth a lick would have taken tat job to come in and be tomlin's asst.
everyone locally here, fans and media, know tomlin is a disaster but like i've said a milltion times, he will NEVER get fired. he can go 0-17 for a decade and his job is safe...HC still sucks. That's the discussion that's being had. Try to keep up.

If Carter fell to 21 I’m guessing they would have a few teams looking to move up and take him. Think of Jaylon Smith, who was a projected 1st rounder until he tore his ACL in ND’s bowl game. Dallas still picked him at 34. Times change, but Carter is arguably a higher rated prospect, at a higher value position, with a far less serious injury. Here’s some food for thought: Abdul Carter had a medical concern pop up at the Combine. They wont be competing for anything next year with or without fields so it just depends how cheap hed be to keep.
$6.4 seems about right based upon his production relative to other QBs around the league. I’d even go a bit higher than that if it means less term or guaranteed money. Until he shows otherwise, he should only be in their plans for two seasons. After that they need to keep the option to cut bait. Not suggesting that he's even worth $6.4 mil per year. That's probably a lot to tank your season.

Deflect, deflect, deflect.Cool
So why isn’t he being fired ?
Who would make that decision ?
Oh, I agree. Still gonna call a duck a duck and not pretend it's the farmer's fault that it's a duck.everyone locally here, fans and media, know tomlin is a disaster but like i've said a milltion times, he will NEVER get fired. he can go 0-17 for a decade and his job is safe...
Time for steeler fans to accept this. nothing in the world will change that. at best you can hope for is he decides to move on.. fingers crossed.
