Have any of the Big Ten top teams

Was a 5.5 favorite winning by 30 “chalk”?

Because I can think of one top ACC team we all pay close attention to that didn’t play up to its rep in the conference tournament.
The object of the game is to win. Win by 1, Lose by 100 - Matters only to NET

The ACC 4 top seeds ended up in the Semifinals.

I don't think that's what you said, that IS what you said.

"Win by 1, Lose by 100 - Matters only to NET"

Maybe what you meant to say is that what you said wasn't actually what you meant.
This is what I said in it's entirety:

I believe it conveys more than your selected portion of what I said.

I meant to say what I actually said, not merely the portion you decided to select/emphasize.

Except you were directly responding to someone who was talking about Pitt's margin of defeat. You even quoted the post. Which is why anyone reading it would interpret it exactly the way that I did. Because that's what you were responding to. You didn't respond to a post that said, "all that matters is who wins or loses". You responded to a post about how bad our loss is by saying that margin of victory only matters to NET.

Which is simply not true.

If you don't think that the people on the committee pay attention to margin of victory I don't know what to say.
The NCAA is still the only sports body in the world that uses a committee rather than on the field results to determine who gets to play for the championship. They’re also the only one that encourages blowouts. Even when used as a tiebreaker, other sports bodies push margin of victory way down on the list.

FWIW, soccer uses goal difference to break ties all the time. They play two game series where the winner is the team that scores the most goals and they use goal difference as the first tiebreaker in tournaments all the time.

The NCAA has many problems. But how else could it determine who plays for the championships in sports where the teams do not have many common opponents? D-1 Football and basketball are essentially operated by the conferences, and there are too many conferences, of differing levels, to just look at won-loss records. How would you come up with national championships, without some type of committee to determine who makes it into the tournaments?

There are way too many division 1 teams in general. It's ridiculous

They could allocate bids to conferences based on past performance. Similar to what the World Cup does for soccer. They have more teams than NCAA football and once you are only talking about the non- one bid leagues, about the same as basketball’s.
