Is one half of basketball away for punching their ticket. Had Pitt been on the bubble this 2nd half may have held some significance.

For the record I am on Irvine -5 for the 2nd half and think they wear the Rainbows down. Still a pretty nice season for Hawaii and Benjy Taylor. Especially after losing Fotu before the season started.

Well ... Hawaii lost ...

... although they aren't a terrible team.

They are a team with some guys who can dribble penetrate and we are a team who cannot defend this.

Oh so we now give some credit to Hawaii, a team that gave Witcha St all they could handle. Blah blah blah.......

Re: Well ... Hawaii lost ...

How does a 7-6 300 guy that is pretty good end up at UC Irvine? He was a 4 star prospect, so it wasn't as though nobody heard of him.

Did you really think....

that Ndiaye was pretty good? He's 7-6 and yet somehow in 22 minutes of play he ended up only taking four shots. 8 points, 3-4 from the field, 2-6 from the line, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks, 3 turnovers, 4 fouls. And that's against a team that doesn't really have much of a post presence (Hawaii's starting center is as likely to drift around the perimeter as he is to post someone up).

I understand how he could be a four star prospect, because those things are based more on NBA potential than they are on current ability. But right now the best thing, just about the only thing, that Ndiaye has going for him is that he is at least 6-8 inches taller than almost everyone he plays against. He has value, because as the old saying goes you can't teach height and 7-6 is a lot of height. But he really isn't a very good basketball player right now.

How in the heck did you read my comment that way ...

... giving any undo credit to Hawaii to create some defense for Pitt?

I've seen Ndiaye a few times this year and watching him lumber up and down the court is almost painful to watch. You can tell his feet really bother him, I don't see any way he would be able to withstand the rigors of an 82 game NBA season even if he was given the opportunity.

Watching him try to handle Alan Williams in a couple games is a precursor of what would happen to Ndiaye in the league. Williams used his big body to back Ndiaye down the lane multiple times, and when Ndiaye picked him up earlier Williams used his quickness to get around him. He also tossed him to the floor on a few occasions and mentally took Ndiaye off his game.

Ndiaye definitely has a mean streak, but he frustrates easily and is able to be bullied by more physical players.
