Hayes for USWNT?

Only leading 5-0 60 minutes in. If Man U can get a touchdown here they are going to be in big trouble.
Maya Ramirez from Columbia has been a real beast. She’s unreal. I didn’t even know who she was when chelsea signed her to replace Sam Kerr. Not sure Columbia is a threat to anyone in the Olympics but 1v1 she’s tough.

Also Hayes said two weeks ago there was no chance Chelsea could win the title. Then Chelsea went on to score like 15 goals in 3 games to win the league by goal diff. She apparently knows how to push the right buttons.

Or she’s full of shit like a lot of coaches. Like Saban pumping up some rag tag directional school.

Watching this USA match vs South Korea, I can’t imagine there’s a team in the world with the depth than we have as a whole.

Maybe there’s a team who is better 1 through 11. I don’t know.

Lily Yohannes, 16 years old, gets her first cap, and I was immediately stricken by the poise and calmness she had playing the 6. She looks completely unphased by any of this. Off the ball movement, poise on the ball, always picking out the right pass. Then she scores a goal in her first match. What a moment. But she looked great even before the goal. I guess playing at Ajax as a 15 year old helps.

Our attack is so deep. Can’t imagine a better front 3 than Swanson, Smith and Rodman, not to mention with Macario playing the #10. And then Lavelle and Horan in the midfield. Shaw is another good youngster in there.

Speaking of depth, is there more depth in competition in womens world football now than there is in men’s basketball and baseball? I feel like the argument can be made.

Hayes comes in and leaves Alex Morgan off the Olympic roster. It’s about time! New era for our USWNT! What a summer for soccer.

Interestingly, she's not even an alternate. Although that could be because she didn't want to go over to France and sit there and do nothing (playing-wise) for a few weeks.

In her prime she was Gyasi Zardes to me. Always seemed like an underperformer when it mattered. Nothing against her personally. Just glad she has more time to spend as a mom.

Korbin Albert makes the roster and the LGBTQIASKGSH+ mafia are outraged. You have to love it.

Man, I know you don't like her, but that's harsh!

:p
Just way too much talent in our current squad and future to bring dead weight Morgan along for another trip. I mean it’s pretty telling that they’ve been playing Crystal Dunn as a forward since the World Cup. She’s rostered in one of those forward spots and Alex is not. The time has come.

Also, although she’s not forward, I’m disappointed that Lily Yohannes didn’t make the squad. I’m really liking her game and she looks to have a bright future. And hope that future is with the US and not Netherlands. I don’t think she’s cap tied yet but I could be wrong

Oh, I don't think that there is any justification for her being on this team at this time. But man, Gyasi Zardes? Did she steal an ice cream cone off you once?

:D

As to Dunn, it's good to see that we finally have a coach who appears to be going to play her where she belongs. She was never a good defender, she was a good attacker that because the US was so much better than most of the teams that they play was never really asked to do a lot of defending. But when she was asked, she got exposed. To me, her playing fullback was always a "she's a really good player so we want to get her on the field, but she's not as good at her position as some other players, so let's stick her at fullback and see what happens" kind of thing.

And Yohannes is not cap tied yet.
