After watching the WVU game last night had JD signed Konate how much better would the Panthers be ? The kids a beast and the best shot blocker I’ve seen at this level . He'd solidify the interior defense , solve the rebounding issue and add a viable inside presence on the offensive end . Missing on national kids who everyone is after is understandable , but allowing a local kid who wanted to come to Pitt go elsewhere is inexcusable . What a shame !

Why was he missed? Did Pitt not really want him for some reason? Grades? Other perceived issues? I don't recall the history at the time.

Does it really matter?

He was a lowly rated recruit who people here went nuts about the idea of offering.

Now he’s the missing piece .

With him, we win what 2-3 conference games?

Nah. I wanted him and was vocal about it because he seemed more like an "old school" Pitt kid rather than Artis and Young. He was a piece of the puzzle, a perfect piece to make this program better. Again, I am not sure Jamie and his band of morons on staff where doing those last few years.

I heard grades weren’t an issue . WVU showed more love and Pitt had Cory Manguilt signed !

Your boy whiffed on him and many like him because he was a recruiting dunce!

It was a big miss. No way to sugarcoat it.

Yup. Huge miss. That said, what makes you think he wouldn't have transferred after last season or before Stallings first season? He'd have been a Dixon recruit, not a Stalling recruit.

So, yeah, huge miss. But, I doubt he'd be here this year or even last year once Dixon moved on to TCU. So, silly topic.

Based on what Stallings did with the signees who originally committed to Dixon, I imagine he would have played sparingly (he did even at WVU under Huggins) last year and would have had to transfer to a lower level school after Stallings forced him out. Maybe WVU, Purdue, or WSU or someone still would have taken him and he would be sitting out this year.

So you think a man whose spent his entire adult life coaching D1 college basketball can’t see potential ? You don’t have to anwser it you and 85 think KS is just a buffoon , not that your opinions are biased !
Ps .. for all you believers of Cory just look at his stats at a junior college

What are Manigault's JC stats? Can you post them? Can you link to them? Are you getting them from the site, which has proven to be completely wrong and not even accurate with minutes per game?

I think it is likely Konate would have played sparingly and been on his way out like everyone from last year's roster was at the end of the year, including every single recruit of the 2016 class Stallings signed. I think Stallings signed every single one of those players, didn't sign a single player he kept into 2017, signed a very bad 2017 class, and is signing a very, very bad 2018 class. So, yeah, I don't think Kevin Stallings has a very good eye (or ability to attract) for talent compared to his peers.

Come on, you should have known better than to get pulled into this ridiculous thread. It's like spitting into the wind.

I actually think he’s a decent fit for Stallings, better than Manigault was.

Stallings’ profile is that he likes bigs that can either shoot from the outside or block shots. Konate can do one of those things. Manigault wasn’t really able to do either.

Stallings’ teams at Vanderbilt tended to have pretty strong block rates compared to Dixon’s Pitt teams.

Even this year, you’re at least seeing some shot blocking aptitude from Brown and Ilegomah. Brown is surpassed only by Adams going back to 2002 and Ilegomah is in the Taft/McGhee range (who were Pitt’s best rim protectors behind Adams prior to this year).

So in your opinion KS is a complete idiot , he’d chase away talented guys ....get a grip I know you want him gone , but the mans not an idiot .
Ps... just google him and you’ll find his junior college stats . He’s seeing a total of 3.5 minutes court time per game ....enough said .

No, what has happened every year in recruiting and what he did to last year's recruiting class and team is the basis of that opinion.

P.S. That is wrong. It has been talked about how wrong it is. Once again you don't know what you are talking about. It is amazing you could be so incredibly stupid to think that stat was right and in the same posts be calling him a bad player. Do you think he has attempted 57 FGs in 56 minutes played? Do you think he has 100 points in 56 minutes played? Do you think he has 49 rebounds in 56 minutes played? I mean, my goodness, his per 36 minute averages would be 64.3 points and 31.5 rebounds!!!!! He would be the best prospect in the entire country and we jettisoned him and his buddy, so we could take the stiffs we are putting out at the 5.

What an incredibly stupid and ill informed post, but I knew you would walk right into it...again.

Well then talk to his junior college then , it’s their site . They say he’s averaging 6.3 pgpg and his Pt has decreased in league play , but I’m sure you know better . I’m sure he’d be averaging a double double
at Pitt .
Your hatred for KS is pitiful , I want a coaching change too , but you think he’s 100% responsible for this mess here , he’s not . You and some others just show how ridiculous your opinions are with every attack . Whenever there’s a new coach and he starts his rebuild are you going to be screaming for his head too when he can’t win in the ACC . Four and Five stars aren’t coming to Pitt anytime soon , it’s going to be a long road back . The only quick way is going to the dark side and that’s not going to happen .

No, no, no. You said the fact he played 3.5 minutes per game in JUCO showed how good he was and thus he wouldn't have been able to help Pitt. You didn't have a freaking clue what you were talking about. You are regurgitating completely wrong information, which you have been told is wrong several times. I knew what you meant. I knew you would walk right into the trap and do it again.

I don't hate Kevin Stallings. I think Kevin Stallings is a mediocre, or worse, HC and has been for quite awhile. I think Kevin Stallings has done about as bad of a job is as possible at Pitt. He has stunk as an in game coach. He has been even worse in roster management and recruiting. I think Jamie Dixon left a situation where no coach was going to win the ACC this year. I think a good coach would have made the NCAAT last year and would be on the bubble this year with good recruiting and not completely gutting the roster and alienating good returning players. Going into their 3rd year and moving forward I would expect we were on track to be a competitive program with the expectation that we go to the NCAAT 2/3s of the time. I don't think Kevin Stallings has even a remote chance of getting to the NCAAT by year 4. Lots of coaches can produce better results in tougher situations and with much better futures. Drew is doing it at Vandy, despite the fact Stallings himself said things were harder at Vandy. Whoops!

Excuse me I must be confusing with someone else who constantly critizes the man .
Then why is that info posted on HIS SCHOOLS SITE .?
Then since your telling me his schools stats are wrong then tell me what your personal starts for CM are .

Hey, if you want to make the argument that the site is correct. Assuming that is your position, can you tell me why it was a good idea for Kevin Stallings to run off a player who is averaging 64.3 and 31.4 per 36 minutes?

Kevin Stallings has been an absolute failure. He hasn't done ANYTHING well since coming to Pitt. The coaching has been awful. The roster management has been awful (ESPECIALLY if Manigault is absolutely killing it in JUCO, which you obviously believe, if you believe those stats are all right). The recruiting has been awful. What doesn't deserve criticism?

Just remember you’re arguing with a guy who claimed Vandy undergrads were smarter than Pitt professors.

Intelligent thought is not his forte.

How's Aaron Thompson doing as a freshman? Because we lost him because of Cory.

Don’t bother arguing with him. He has a very warped sense of reality and thinks everyone who doesn’t agree with him is nuts.

And he spends way too much time on a silly message board.

Oh, one more thing. I don’t hate Stallings. I don’t know him and don’t want to. I just know he is a horrible coach, evidenced by his results.

MPG is wrong. They dont track them, it doesn't look like and just list "1." He's a reserve and doesn't get a ton of PT. Might be a decent player for Oral Roberts

The site says he’s averaging 6.3 pgpg and 3.5 minutes , probably mopup time . I don’t consider anyone killing it f he can only get 3.5 mpg .

So you keep a guy on the roster that you have issues with and that you think can’t play so maybe Thompson keeps his commitment . Has Thompson ever said why he changed his mind ?

To be correct I said that their test scores and qpa were superior . How one applies themselves after getting into a university is another subject altogether . While I’m sure a lot of Pitts faculty are brilliant I also bet coming out of high school a large % of them couldn’t get into a school like Vanderbilt . I graduated Pitt as Chem major with a 3.78 qpa , could’ve gone almost anywhere to get a PhD , but choose a different path . I couldn’t get my little toe into Vanderbilt coming out of high school . Could I’ve competed academically with the kids at Vanderbilt . Not a chance in hell and I have no issue saying that a kid with 1500 board scores is brighter than me .
Hell , your so bright that you think that Pitt firing KS will correct all the ills of Pitt bb . You must be a Pitt faculty member .
