Hugley committed to stay and succeed at Pitt ....

Two of the wins were against teams with major injury problems. That is only reason they beat FSU and NC State.
Pitt had major injury problems also. Didn't have Sibande and Horton for only 13 games. We will also play teams next year with injury problems

You mean the team that won 6 ACC games? LOL! Do they have any good players? I know people will say Hugley and he is serviceable, but we lose Gueye and I don't see any replacement yet. Plus Capel is such a poor recruiter that he is incapable of getting anyone decent.

Again, if the team stayed as it is right now (which it won't) and Capel somehow lucked out and even got 1 good portal player, we'd still only win 4 ACC games next year. Maybe 5. The rest of the ACC will be better and Capel can't coach.
If Gueye isn’t any good he shouldn’t be hard to replace though right?

what's the upside to waiting? You seem confident he's gone so you either 1) know him or know someone close to him or 2) you're guessing. I'm not doubting you, but if you knew Horton or knew someone close to him and the answer is "Horton is gone", why hasn't he put his name in the portal yet? Teams will be filling up soon.. the later you wait, the worse it could get. I just don't understand what he'd possibly be waiting for.. unless he simply doesn't know yet or is staying.
There’s a lot of strategy in waiting. I don’t know for sure, but I believe it’s about 95 percent leaning towards the portal. Femi I’d put higher.

The strategy in waiting is this:
1) they can’t mess with your transcripts or access to workouts/gym. With the May 1 deadline, some may want to work out with the team as long as possible to know
2) 8/10 portal kids already have their destination before they hit the portal. Someone is back channeling for them and they know where they’re gonna go and they go through a charade of a recruitment to prevent the tampering. It’s impossible to prove, but that’s how it works. Obviously 8/10 is a guess but it’s on the higher side
3) I’ve heard he was heavily leaning towards it based on a few factors, but he is young adult and as we know they change their minds often. Maybe he wants to see who else they bring in. Maybe he wants to hear their plan for him next year etc. before making a decision

my point is, I would assume he is gone. If Femi is back I’d have to look into new sources.

Also, and don’t laugh, he may portal AND declare for the draft with option to come back lol. DO NOT BE SURPRISED if he tries to go through the draft process. I’m not saying he’s good enough or anything like that… just DO NOT BE SURPRISED if he tries to go thru the draft process

His chances of getting drafted to the NBA are exactly that of him getting drafted into military service.

Why would we go from 6 to 4 wins with the same team a year older?

What does a year older have to do with it? The talent isn't there. If it's a year older, all that means is they're one year closer to leaving. Not that they'll be better. A year older with this team may mean they'll be worse relative to the rest of the ACC. And it won't be the same team at all!

I still don't believe that Hugley is going to be back until I see him on the court next year. And there isn't another player on that roster that would contribute to additional wins. We still don't know all of whom will stay and who will go, not that it matters on this team which isn't very good. It's pretty sad and the reason why so many Pitt fans are disgusted with this program.

Junior year ideal time to make a run. By senior year there are agendas and everyone is sick of each other. See St Bonnie’s

We've seen that so many times in the past.

I'm sorry for being so cynical about this program. I was never like this until we had to endure 2 years of Stallings and now going into year 5 with the latest failure. It's either be cynical or just quit caring at all. But unlike the program and its leaders, I won't quit caring.

Did you see what Iowa St did in the portal ? Before crying and throwing in the towel let’s see what transpires in the portal .
It can be done. But we have a lot of evidence to support the premise that it’s unlikely that it will be done by Capel. Four full years worth.

More Tier 3 transfers won’t get us anywhere. I’m not sure what Capel has to sell a higher level transfer.

Is there really a May 1 deadline to enter the portal? That makes no sense. If a kid wants to transfer on July 15, he can't do it??? He has to just remain at that school against his will???

If Hugley is committed to succeeding, which is all fine and good to say, he better hope that Capel can pull in at least 4 or 5 studs from the portal to support him. Otherwise, that success he hopes to get will be out the window.
