Iconic posters from the early days

Didn’t Dan Cage get caught posting here? Or was it his wife? Or am I misremembering?

Staying on topic, whatever happened to Midnight Blue? Met him at the Pete back in the mid 2000s.

Agree Rocky. I only ignore 1 person on the free board and it's that twat King of all Message Boards douche. It's been great ever since I put him on ignore because he literally would just reply to post after post I made and argue with me. That's literally all he did and it got to the point where it got tiring and completely unproductive. So aside from Phil and his daily bunch of handles the free board is so much better for me not caring or having to read King's posts to me or about me. He's been on ignore for over a year now and I'll never take him off.
I thought you were putting me on ignore.

Can’t remember the handle but he was a walking Pitt fullback whose passion was Pitt station and hated Stevie p (Plenty of company there). Don’t think he posted much on the hoops board.

Met him at a tail gate before the tire bowl against Nc. Really good dude

There are a lot of dead college sports message boards around the internet. SMF may say stupid things but he and DT are unquestionably the reasons why this place still gets decent traffic

that sounds familiar, I remember Grahams kid used to post on the scout board, and hinted at the news his dad was leaving the day before. I think Penni also used to comment on the PG site whenever there were negative comments on Graham.

I cannot remember when I first came on this board. I believe. It was some time in the nineties. When did the previous board begin? I was on that board within a year or so of its beginning. Also on the Proboards site which one had to be invited to get on. That board was discontinued. DT was invited on that board so he probably has better memory of that since he is younger.

Windell. I knew him. Sat behind me at Pitt Stadium. Didn’t pimp his kids out but spent some time in the slammer for kiddy porn.

I was crushed to hear that about Windell. I spoke with him a couple of times.

Where were your seats at in old Pitt Stadium WBR? I was in section 3. I think row 50 (not sure exactly, but only a couple of rows from the top)

As for Drew from WV. He's doing well. I saw him in Greensboro on Sunday.

Wyndell - I knew him well. It was internet stuff. A shame.

Pittlaw is someone I miss. He made some mad because he could come across as condescending but I genuinely liked him
I was proud to call him a friend- we shared many beers. It’s been a while since I’ve heard about him.

The first board was Frank Sokol’s Unauthorized Pitt Sports Message Board. It was great. There’s about a dozen or so regulars left from those days. Then their was the pro boards thing in the middle before we all went to Rivals.

I wish @NTOP could share more but his memory is worse than his peach basket jump shot.

And Crazy Paco’s page at the same time as Frank’s Page. I think Paco’s page was more just Pitt news and updates. That was like 25 years ago.

There was also Scout which competes with Rivals for a few years in the early 2000’s.

I was on the Sokol board in ‘97. I asked this before but does anyone know whatever happened to Frank Sokol?

I stay in touch with Midnite Blue as we were very close friends for some time. Generally speaking, he decided to retire from Pitt sports because of the sometimes toxic influence it had on his life.

He still reads here from time to time, but he really has stepped away from Pitt sports. A more ethical man you will never meet. And he is connected to almost all of my best Pitt Hoops memories.

Can’t remember the section number. Around the 25 yard line in front of the press box. Scoreboard end. Does Drew Freund still post under another name?

Count me among the ones who was on the Frank Sokol board. Dial up network.

What was your handle then?
Diehard Panther - I may have added a number to the end. Not 100% sure because I believe there was more than one Diehard Panther moniker.

The recruiting updates back then from Harry were nice because it was tough to get good recruiting information on Pitt at that time. He made Aamir Dew seem like the next great RB. 🙂

Were you at the Diehard Army tailgates?
