.....A loss like that is a pain that last for a long time.
That was a "Pitting". Blowing a 14-point lead with 8 minutes to go.

They choked. They have a really good team and played a hell of a game in the Rose Bowl against maybe the 2nd hottest team in college football. No shame in their loss if you ask me....but I am glad they lose.
I didn't say there was shame in the loss... I'd said it is a more painful loss. They have a really good team and played a hell of a game in the Rose Bowl against maybe the 2nd hottest team in college football. No shame in their loss if you ask me....but I am glad they lose.

They pissed away a 14 point lead in THEIR quarter! There's permanent shame at psuThey have a really good team and played a hell of a game in the Rose Bowl against maybe the 2nd hottest team in college football. No shame in their loss if you ask me....but I am glad they lose.
They choked.
Lol. Their QB have it away just like he did in the Pitt game.

A loss like that makes PSU fans "what if" for the next 8 months. It makes them question James Franklin's decision making under pressure.
Yeah... they played well in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.... but the blew the game. It was an epic choke, an epic collapse.
And it will sting those pricks for a while.
Screw you. They choked BIG TIME. When we lose in the last seconds blowing a 2 TD lead, our coach, staff, players and administrators and fans are garbage. So what. I wish Pitt was in the Rose Bowl and played a game like that. Man up and give credit where it's due.
I didn't see - did McSorley hit a home run after that last interception?
DT.... rank these games according to how painful they were (and still are) for you:While I appreciate your logic, I would have much preferred they had lost 49-0.
No ... wait ... make 409-0.
Dumb post.So what. I wish Pitt was in the Rose Bowl and played a game like that. Man up and give credit where it's due.
You don't play "what ifs" when you get blown out. There are no "what ifs" in the loss to Miami.Every loss in sports does that. Pretty much every day there's posts on here about what Pitt's record "should be" this year "if" a couple plays fell this way or that way.
They choked.

When Pitt blows bigs leads, our fans rip our team to shreds. When PSU, our mortal enemy blows a big lead, you want to praise them?
Screw you.
DT.... rank these games according to how painful they were (and still are) for you:
- Scottie Reynolds hitting the shot to keep Pitt out of the Final Four in 2009.
- Nasir Robinson fouling under our own hoop on a missed FT and Pitt losing by 1 to Butler in the 2011 round of 32 game.
- Barry Goheen of Vanderbilt hitting the 3 to force OT and beat 2-seed Pitt in the 1988 round of 32 game.
- Pitt losing in OT to Kent State in the Sweet 16 in 2002.
- Pitt losing by 4 to Marquette in the Sweet 16 in 2003.
- Pitt getting blown out by Oklahoma State in the Sweet 16 in 2004.
- Pitt getting handily beaten by UCLA in the Sweet 16 in 2007.
- Pitt getting blown out by Florida in the Round of 32 in 2015.
Do you think those last three were more painful than the first 4 or 5? I don't.
Dumb post.

Then you weren't paying attention. Trace didn't lose the Pitt game. Charles ran the wrong route. How many times do you need to hear that. 52-49. I'll take it. Hell of a game. Way beyond what anyone expected. All here said PSU would be blown out. Wrong again. They belong, and they proved it. Should be fun next year for both teams.-I thought the same exact thing. Penn State QB lost the Rose Bowl on the same exact play they lost to Pitt.
lmao mortal enemy? It's sports man.
My point was that close "what if" losses stay with fans for years.I get your point, and I'm not trying to debate the issue really.
But there is a BIG difference in all the situations you've described and the PSU loss today.
All of those basketball losses, close or not, prevented Pitt from ADVANCING in a tournament.
No matter what happened today with PSU, their season was over. So I would have much rather they lost in pathetic embarrassing fashion.
But this is all pointless quibbling because PSU Sux and Joe Knew!
In the context of sports, they are our mortal enemy...

A true rival has a championship on the line when you play. Pitt/PSU haven't played with a championship on the line for about 35 years. Yawn.
And if Pitt lost a game like that, you'd be on here ripping the team, the coaching staff, the refs, the announcers, and everyone else.lmao mortal enemy? It's sports man.
