If Pitt had a 40,000 seat luxury stadium in Oakland, would you pay 40% more

And there's some people like myself, who are committed to never go to any games if tailgating ever ends, I admit, I go only to one Steelers game and one Pitt game per year, and I don't go to watch the game, I watch every game at home on my 52" TV, if it was just about watching the game, why go to it? No, I go there in person for a big blowout party, and I hate crowded bars where you need to get in line to buy the next $8 beer. So I'm not sure how many we are, but I am certain there are many people like me, who when the tailgating dies, they won't be coming anymore.

I think that is the plan. To eliminate people like yourself from buying tailgating supplies who don't spend money at the game, and replace you with people who will do just that.

Yes. No question. It is needed to become what we all want Pitt football to become. Where there's a will, there's a way.

GSPIA produced a plan with blueprints when Steve Pedersen and Nordy were pups. The schematic drawing of the new stadium on the OC Lot can be found at www.newpittstadium.com

WE MUST FIND THE GSPIA PLAN NOW! The New Pitt Stadium is 100 million dollars away!

You're about 400 million dollars short.

Heinz field is an impressive place for a college football stadium. A destination stadium the Steelers play there. Our visitors are always impressed so we should be as well.
At game time lots of PITT " fans" are still in the North Shore bars and parking lots.
Getting those " fans" into the stadium would help the attendance visual. Maybe bars in the stadium would help?
Also many fans stand and don't go to their seats which amplifies the empty stadium look.
I watched the Michigan vs Ohio State on Saturday. The TV cameras panned the outside of the Big House with 9 mins to go in the losing Michigan effort as fans streamed out. The Big House was emptying out. When the cameras moved back to show the stadium it looked full due to the black seats.
The goal is to get more fans to attend Pitt games, but in the meantime getting people to their seats and not having yellow seats would help.
Heinz field has lots of benefits for out of town fans like lots of close in hotel rooms, places to eat and drink, easy access to major highways for coming and going.
When our kid was at PITT we stayed in Oakland and it was tough getting parking, finding restruauts or bars not jammed with students, and hotel were often full.

great point, I've said this for years. Tons of fans not only in the bars outside but walking around the stadium.. We get them around the game, just not in their seats. Dare I say, Heinz has too many amenities.

If people expect the students to make an 'easy commute' over to Heinz, then the same can be expected of our visiting fans staying in town for a game in Oakland.

What I said was there's limited room for visiting fans in Oakland. So you drive 5 hrs and have to stay out of the area, when you drive into Oakland there's limited parking and you can't get into a restaurants or bars.
Translated Oakland would s--k for a PITT stadium.
Guess what genius the students are 10 mins away from Heinz ( not 5 hrs), they get freakin bused to the game and guess what bused back to their bars. That's an easy commute!

Merry Christmas to All!

That's a pretty asinine comment. The students have free shuttle buses to Heinz, they don't need to park. Commuting *INTO* Oakland is a much different animal than commuting *OUT* of Oakland. Commuting in is 10 times worse.

I know. I make that commute every single weekday.

Also.. the 10,000 students being bussed to the game all live within a .25 square mile area. That's easy yo arrange.

The 35,000 non-students are scattered around a 5 county area and can't all gather and ride in together on a steasy stream of shuttle busses.

It's basic logic and math.

Absolutely, positively yes. What a great topic. This would get me back to the bigger donor level.
